ParticipantAh mate that’s amazing, really! You’ve really captured the feel of the game! TLOU for me is the est video game of all time. I used to have a channel where I uploaded my TLOU videos of online play. I changed them all to private now but here’s one for anyone who has never seen the game online 🙂

Participant@tbb I’m curious now.. What work do you do that requires protective suits 🙂 Sounds exciting..
Nails.. I keep the second, third & fourth finger nails neat and tidy (No longer than anyone else) as I find I get a nicer sound when strumming with nails. I did try to grow my thumb nail but:
1. I made the mistake of shaping it as you would a normal nail which when you do this your filing down the sides which makes contact with the string. Meaning you need to grow it even longer to make it useful. By the the I worked that out I just had a big pointy nail which was at best odd 😂
2. Taimane – I’ve heard her mention a couple of times her nails are acrylic. It creates a different sound and also won’t wear down against a wound string. She also uses a thumb pick you can often see it hanging next to her tuning pegs.. If I’m doing anything which requires a nail on the thumb I just use a thumb pick (cut the pointy weird thumb nail).
Looking forward to the lesson 👀

ParticipantHi Garry!
Welcome and enjoy. Lots of great content and courses on this site so you’re in the right place 😎
You’re also lucky enough to be in the UK which means you have Southern Ukulele Store on your doorstep (well you don’t need to get on a plane) so check SUS out also.
See you around 👀

Participant@tbb Thanks 😎, yup it’s Justin Bieber.. I can’t claim to have made that loop as I saw it on YouTube and then worked it out.
Happy New Year.. See you in the next one 😍🙏🏻

ParticipantThat was so beautiful.. I love how classical music has the ability to connect and transports us back to the period the arrangements are from. Almost like a musical time machine.

Participant@gi_gi_ Exactly what @robinboyd said. Matt said in a previous podcast that one of the ‘tools’ of improvising is to have a number of patterns ‘ready to go’. Sort of an Arsenal of patterns that Guitarists call ‘Licks’ (I think).
So if you learn the different scales, some ‘licks’, and thrown in a bit of luck (I mean improv haha) you can create a nice sound on the fly.. People will think you’ve made it up on the spot and you can claim you have but you’ve really rehearsed those ‘licks’ 20 times and blended it in the right key haha.
Joking aside you do find yourself improvising but it’s definitely useful to have a few goto ‘licks’ to fill in the gaps.

Participant@recdog Looks very interesting! I’ll have to have a play around with it.
These two videos use the same pattern to create a path to connect the arpeggio shapes. The first video you can follow on the Uke (just use bottom 4 strings).
Second video shows you how to move it around. It’s really useful in improv.

ParticipantJust watched this on YouTube. What an actual gentleman Matt is and the advice provided was super informative and insightful.
We are so lucky to have such great mentors 😎🙏🏻

Participant@tbb OMG we should all do a podcast 😎 We can call it “A Ukulele Site” so we don’t infringe on any copyright 😂 We can place a heavy focus on tambourines 😂

ParticipantMaster Class. Inspiring us all to quit ukulele 😂😂😂

Participant@tbb Maybe we’ll let Corey & Kalei play the ukes and we can play some tambourines in the background 😂
@recdog I love watching Kalei as you said add the right chords/melody/harmonies when Corey plays the guitar. They are both true masters of their craft. There is one video where it’s just an hour or so of their duets. Most of the views are probably me 😂I’ve noticed a lot of Corey’s play style also comes from the Guitar. There is a rendition of Autumn Leaves they play together and they are both playing lots of arpeggios over the chord progression. There is not a lot of Uke content in regards to this but Paul David (YouTube guitar guy) has an awesome video on arpeggios for guitar which translates to the Uke if you mess around with it a bit.
Like you said there is always something new to learn 👨🏫☕️
