anyon1ParticipantHi All,
I’m a premium member.
I worked on La Gitanita this month since there were several techniques to learn. It turns out the picado picking technique seems very unnatural to me, and the rasgueado strum was hard to do while keeping up the tempo of this song, so I ended up focusing on getting the piece to 100% speed (which has been a challenge for me in recent months…). I think I got a bit of the harmonics sound too. Thanks for a fun lesson!

I could not figure out how to edit my original post. Is there a way to do that? Thanks!

anyon1ParticipantHi All,
I tried Bad Moon Rising. It has been a challenge to pick up speed with it! Here it is at about 65%.

anyon1Participant@lhamilton That was great! As I listened, I felt like there was a mysterious and sad feeling early on, but then it sounded more hopeful. I think you really captured the emotion with your playing and whistling.

anyon1Participant@malku2603 Thank you for listening and the nice feedback! I’ve enjoyed watching your progress. I have never heard of the dotara technique. Thanks for introducing it to us. It looks very challenging to play, but I like the way it sounds! You’ll get there! Even if you’re not quite up to speed today, it still sounds great!

anyon1ParticipantHi All,
I’ve been working on an arrangement for Fool in the Rain by Led Zeppelin. I wanted to share something now since I will not have much time during the rest of the month.
@otzepeng I love the little carved ukulele! Carving is another hobby of mine, but I’ve yet to carve a uke.–Adriana

anyon1ParticipantHi All,
1) Execution – I chose to continue to work on adding a percussive element through tapping since I enjoyed doing that with Free Fallin’ a couple of months ago.
2) Application – I found a fun version of Fool in The Rain by Led Zeppelin that requires tapping various parts of the body of the ukulele that I will play.
3) Evaluation – I’ll monitor my progress as I take the piece in sections, work to memorize it, and hopefully bring it up to speed to record it in the next few weeks.
I look forward to seeing the variety of techniques/songs/instruments people choose to work on this month!

anyon1Participant@Andrew Thank you so much for the suggestions! I feel like I hold the body of the uke against me, but my posture can use some adjusting. I will also work on those exercises you shared. Thanks again!

anyon1ParticipantHi Everyone!
I’ve enjoyed listening to the wide variety of entries so far this month! I chose to work on Norwegian Wood for practice with stretch chords. I found that I was able to hit the melody note with my pinky often, but I sometimes felt that it locked up a little bit when moving back/between chords making some of the fast changes difficult. I’m not sure if there is a solution to that (more practice? different form? hand exercises?) or joint problems are something I need to accommodate for as I get older. Any tips would be appreciated!
