I saw nch wavepad had a kindle app and downloaded it on my Fire because im running around with it now.

It works and has pretty much the same features as the pc version as far as I can tell. I’m not crazy about touch app interfaces but if the Android is the same, you should have some fun with it. (It comes with voice mod! yea!😎) I tried a quick noise removal on my test wav and it removes tablet mic hissing perfectly from the track. Did a couple default value effects and some filters and it applied them really fast. Faster then on my netbook!

    Anyway good luck!

Edit: ok, the one I have that did android was nch wavepad. (Only get wavepad from NCH website. They’re an Australian company.)

    https://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html

Wavepad is pretty nice, (I haven’t looked specifically at the android version since I have it on windows) you will probably get the full version as a trial if you try it. MAKE SURE you save your recordings as a unmodified file FIRST, and then play with wavepad stuff and save it as another file. If you use full version/pro things they might stop working when the trial ends. Don’t take chances with your master recording. (That’s kind of obvious, but needed to say it just in case.)

Once the trial ends it’s annoying, it doesn’t make picking free intuitive but you can go in options and downgrade the software to the free version. (I can help you if you can’t find it, if you try it.)

Free still has normal stuff you would use on a recording and some good effects, but they lock some of the fancy stuff. It also comes with voice modulation which was fun lol. (I have me playing a zombie for the walking dead theme in October. I just never added them for my submission! lol)

I saw some other companies have mobile versions. FL think it stands for fruity loops? Then stagelight 4 but I don’t know anything about them. Maybe someone else does? You’d need to look and see which does what you want. Check on the one Andrew uses too. They might have a mobile version but I don’t know.

Nice Ricky! Can’t wait to hear her! I just may go back and get the Dead uke in a couple months. I keep thinking of how nice it sounded kind of warm and smooth compared to my current one.

Have you messed with your recordings with Audicity or one of the other audio programs? I’m not sure what free ones are compatible with what OS though. I record with stuff on a Windows 10 netbook so can’t help you if you need something Apple or Android. (Think you said you don’t have windows?)

ANYWAY! The software can ‘fix’ some noise. If you research and experiment you can ideally make stuff sound really nice by doubling tracks, putting different effects on the tracks etc.

Soon as I get off my butt and hook up the new stuff I just got and get some time to record, you can hear my “45$ most inexpensive recording gear (I found) available, but with many many hours of research behind it” at work. – using sub par things I already had in some cases like broken playstation headphones with an adapter as my headphones, my mic stand is a pvc pipe and tape.. lol… Cruddy gear shouldn’t matter, my virtuosic ukulele skills should shine! (Please visualize some meme here, of someone laughing hysterically and falling off their chair.) 😇

The only reason I mention the stuff I’m using and what I attempt to ‘do’ to my recording on my submissions is it either might help someone or someone might be like “Hey, try doing this instead..” lol.. Hasn’t happened yet but meh lol! Only been at this for a few months so far! I expect I’ll get better at both. 😁

Anyway, good luck. Rambled on quite a bit while letting the dogs out for the night. 😁 Have a good night/day!

LOL! Congratulations on your new addition.

It took me a few days of relentless playing to get used to the concert spacing, but the ability to play in a fret rather than the wood past 12 was nice!

What brand did you settle on?

Ricky – If you find a model you like, and it’s got a pickup in it, (and don’t want it) you can often look at the company website and find the same make but without the pickup. Some places might be willing to order one for you if you go that route.

    http://www.oscarschmidt.com/products/ukes/spaltedmango.asp

That’s just an example. The tenor model on that page comes with or without, and like deadbuggy said it’s just a matter of money saving if you don’t plan on using it. I record with a cheap pickup that sticks on the body with a suction cup at the moment but am looking into getting something a little better since it doesn’t stick on the satin finish.

My intent was to record and post my first video yesterday, never got time to record. I’ll try to post a quick take of progress audio by the 14th if nothing else…
🙁 I know only two posts are required, but I was really hoping to have more of a record of my progress.

    Anyway,

Miztaken- Good job so far on Chopsticks it cleaned up remarkably from the beginning post. I can’t explain it well but you really started tuning into the feel of the waltz between week 1 and this week. You’re going to knock it out of the park come final performance day!

gahanby- You can pick whatever you’re working on right now if you wish. If you’re short on time pick something that you can work on in that time, you just need to outline it before the 14th? (Would need to look again to be sure) It doesn’t need to be something crazy hard like arranging, just something you feel you need to work on. I’m just meaning to encourage you. No one needs be left out this month!!!

Welcome Andy! I hope the grandchildren enjoyed the song!

I agree you should join in if you want to. Everyone’s really great human beings here, and the challenge feedback is a great tool to focus a bit more on stuff we need work on. The challenges are great to me because if nothing else they give me a solid ‘thing’ to work on which keeps me more focused.

Anyway, have fun and hope to see you enter! Remember this challenge is a bit different we need to put up an outline? Post by a certain date, then our end of the month post.

Thank you Stephen, and the new feedback links work great! Thank you both for trying it!

I had no idea what was going on with the sound, so I appreciate pointing me at gain and eq! I can only fix the track after it’s recorded right now, but I think Audicity, or NCH Wavepad, might have a way to mess with the tracks eq after a scan? I’ll definitely look into it asap.

Ricky- I’m not Andrew but I wanted to throw in my experience. That’s awesome you dove into the new lessons so fast! I’m so relieved there’s bonus tab for the performance pieces in the coarse.

Anyway I got 2 ukes (Mainly because of Moon because it’s so pretty) so I put a low G set of Aquilla on my soprano 1) because Aquilla made a set specific for it, and 2) I got the $40 concert uke that’s out to kill me but it came strung normally.

Some songs sound fine with low G some sound weird. La Gitanita (spelling) is totally playable for example on low G but in one part I had to figure out the high G notes on the A string. For that song I just kind of fumbled around till it sounded right. It was only a few notes and I play it both ways now on the high G. I can’t play Neil Gow’s Lament on low G, and I can’t play Moon at ALL on high G. So my newbie advise would be to maybe pick up a concert or a size with normal tuning! and have 1 of each to play different songs on If you find yourself wanting to play low G songs enough to warrant buying another uke.

Anyway that’s my 2 cents, If I remember right low G just adds lower notes starting on the 5th fret? Everything above that’s the same as high G. Maybe you can just get around it? I haven’t seen the lessons yet. 😁

    Congratulations uku_on!!

That’s the first song I found done by Jake on youtube. Grats on your new ukulele too!

Small update on Niel Gow’s Lament: I got better with the chord change timing and I’m succeeding more playing the ghost notes so they don’t throw everything off.

I’m still playing the tricky part wrong. I’ve isolated the part and there’s been a little progress I think? I’ve been playing the video at 50% when I can and trying to emulate the part to sound more like what he’s doing. It’s hard practice because I’m not really sure if I’m doing it right.

I’m good either way. That’s neat linking to the video though.

    Adorable cat btw lisa! 😉
