evapajuParticipant@Andrew, wow! 😊 Thank You for the positive feedback, it was surprise! I have been avoiding metronome, because of some restraining feel it has given me. But last month or two I have been really felt that it actually could help me to improve.

Hello everybody!
Back again after I got stuck “Into the Maze” in March, literally 😊. So this month I decided to record and post a lot faster.
Love this month theme! I chose Minuet in G. I have been wanting to learn picado and now was a great chance. I feel like the picado technique is really comfy way of playing althou I couldn`t apply it fully to theme B, because it was harder and I got tense and lost some control over my right hand.
Also I had first experience to play along with backing track. It is a blast, absolutely loving it and also helps to maintain steady pace.
I am grateful for beautiful arrangements and really appreciate any feedback.
Good luck to everyone!March 8, 2022 at 12:04 am in reply to: Participate in the March 2022 Member Challenge – Theme: Movie Magic! #51116
evapajuParticipant@deadbuggy, your performance is amazing! So much feel in it 🙂

evapajuParticipantOMG @andrew – “Into the Maze” is absolutely captivating tune! I literally cant stop playing it at the moment, hopefully I don´t hurt my left hand 😉
John Williams is classic of course with “Jurassic Park” and Matt´s arrangement makes this simply beautiful melody shine! Really good choices this month!
Good luck for everyone!February 25, 2022 at 9:39 am in reply to: Participate in the February 2022 Member Challenge – Theme: Strumming Songs! #51015
evapajuParticipantHello!
Here is my February submission- “Crossing Hemispheres”, slow and bit clumsy but I`m quite happy, because it was real challenge for me. I absolutely love the tune and grateful to Matt for very professional and easy to follow lessons from Next Level Strumming course. Ghost note technique is so cool, especially with sweep strum 🙂 !
evapajuParticipant“City of Stars” from La La Land is my favorite 🙂
evapajuParticipantHello, @xerxes !
I started my ukulele journey 10 months ago accidentally with Bernadette Teaches Music on YouTube and she really teaches good beginner techniques and strumming with songs. Island strum took me 2 weeks everyday practice to settle in. Of course I took a peek on RC101 lessons too but I saw they are too advanced at the moment. I saved some of them for future.
About a month ago I noticed that I can play RC101 beginner lessons better and even some intermediate lessons with more effort. I was so happy I had tears in my eyes. This little instrument has ability to take away my anger and pain and replace it with joy! It is going to take time and practice but is totally worth it!
You said you would like to strum chords and sing with it- it sounds like very good starting point.Take care and have a good time with your ukulele!

evapajuParticipantWell @melanieh , it seems You have been moving to more advanced level without noticing yourself 🙂
Your playing was highly enjoyable, good work!
evapajuParticipantI do not like nylon strings too. Sugars and Reds are like warm sounding, but with lot more sustain and character. Sugars fit to my cheap laminated ukulele really well and are good for strumming.
I was afraid of Reds for some time too- it is not overly pleasant to think about string snapping, but I´m happy I tried them anyway.
There is one Martin string set what is sounding and feeling similar to Reds- Martin M625 grey polygut (these are for tenor, but I saw these available for concert too). I have been using them only a week or so, but really pleased so far.
I´m totally agree with @kanae926 – changing strings and trying different strings is lot of fun too.
Well, with this conversation I already feel the urge to order now some new sets 🙂
evapajuParticipant@surferjay – I´m surprised about your problem with Sugars. I have been using them for 8-9 months on my 3 ukuleles and not broken any of them yet. They are quite elastic but a little bit weaker then fluorocarbons or nylguts thou in my opinion, I have to change them every 1-1,5 months, because they get pressing marks underneath (especially A string). So usually at first I just change A string and play another month until I need whole new set.
Are you sure your ukulele have not any rough spots- on the nut for example? Or is it about tuners? So I like the Sugars and actually Reds from Aquila too- they just sound so much better then any fluorocarbon or nylon I have tried. I have not broke any Red yet too- I was very careful when I installed them (very slowly and over the paper straw), because they tend to snap. Reds are great for fingerpicking. As @kanae926 and @robinboyd sayd- strings are very personal choice :).
evapajuParticipant@Andrew – thank you a lot :)! I noticed yesterday while practicing that with sweep strum my right hand stays open for ghost notes too and it is pretty comfortable. For only ghost strumming it seems more natural to hold fingers curled in. Exactly like you said! So it seems my hand knows what to do even if I don´t 🙂
evapajuParticipant“To Zanarkand” (from “Final Fantasy X”) sounds so nice on ukulele 🙂
evapajuParticipantHello @Andrew!
I love the Next Level Strumming Course! It is interesting and gives me good opportunity to improve my playing, also very well executed by Matt.
I have a question about ghost strum technique. My right hand natural relaxed position while strumming is fingers curled to palm, but I noticed that Matt holds them in open position. Is there any difference in speed or other important aspects of this technique?Thank You!

Hello everybody!
Here is my submission for January Challenge “Dream a Little Dream of Me”- just lovely jazz arrangement. I made some really minor changes for my personal preference- a little bit of strumming and little faster pace. Funny thing is that a had previously already printed out tablatures for “Dream a Little Dream of Me” and “Here Comes the Sun” and I planned to practice these. Also love the “St James Infirmary” and encouraged by so many submissions I´m going to play it too. It seemed quite hard for my level at the beginning but I want to try it anyway. So great choices this month and many thanks to RC101 team!
Thank you for listening and good luck for everyone!January 20, 2022 at 12:26 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2022 Member Challenge: Celebrating 500 Lessons! #50433 -
