ParticipantThank you so much Andrew! I will definitely work on the strum variations. And I’m really grateful you explained your strum (the flick strum). Ever since I started watching your YT channel I wanted to learn it but could never figure it out on my own 😂

ParticipantUnfortunately for me, I realized recently that the first deadline was on the 15th, so I understand my entry is not valid anymore, however I went ahead and challenged myself learning two songs I love. So here is my ”entry”:
Execution: I think I might be in the intermediate level. I’ll be working on applying music theory. My short term goal is to have a better understanding of music, so I can accomplish my long term goal which is to arrange a song by myself (I don’t think I’m ready just yet, so I’m taking this challenge as the first step). I practice between 1-2 hours every other day.
Application: I chose two songs that weren’t on RC101 because I figured it was best to step out of my comfort zone of watching tutorials and try to do it by ear and apply the theory. I’ve been reading books on music theory and studying the courses in RC101 on the subject.
Evaluation: I am so elated that I managed to write tabs and the notes values on the staff, and I felt like my head was going to explode from learning so much while doing this. I was able to know which chords would be used by knowing the key the song was in, I learned the formulas for forming the chords and naming them and using different shapes in the fretboard to form the same chord, and I think I figured out the time signature. I know that I probably messed up on the notes values while writing the tabs, but overall I’m very happy because I understand a lot more (even though I have a long way to go). Next stop will probably be using the metronome!
I’ll never love again from the movie A star is born
This one took me a looot of time, around 4 hours, but I’m happy I stuck with it
City of stars from the movie La La Land

ParticipantThank you Stephen! I’ll try to practice with a metronome because I do have a tendency to speed things and I want to have a better sense of rhythm. However, I get a little confused when using a metronome, so it’s gonna be a while before my brain coordinates with a song and see progress on that field😂, but I’ll get there! Thanks again

ParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
Here is my entry for this month’s challenge.
I love to sing but I don’t know how to sing, so sorry for your ears. Katie should do singing lessons as well 😉 I love all the songs this month (didn’t actually know any of them), I am learning another one, maybe I’ll upload it as well.
Have an awesome day!

ParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
I am finally a premium member and it makes me very happy! 9 dollars may not seem like a lot but in my country’s currency and for a jobless student like me, this is an accomplishment, lol. Anyways, just want to say that I love this community and I love playing the uke, it brings me a joy that I need right now.
Here is my submission for La gitanita, at first I was sad that I couldn’t play Moon because of the low G string, but I REALLY enjoyed playing this one. It’s so much fun. I feel like I have improved a lot already thanks to RC101. To anyone reading this, have a wonderful day!!
