Waiting until the last minute makes getting a good recording even more difficult. Pressure is high especially when trying to show improvement from previous posting. I did ‘Red is the Rose’ for last years March challenge. Love this sound so wanted to give it another try and try to have fewer hesitations. I struggle the most with the picking part. Though not a great performance, I do think I have fewer hesitations. Got excited toward the end thinking I made it through, but then messed up at the very end. Accomplished the goal of improving but certainly did not demonstrate very well here.

Never mind, I have read this more closely. I see it is to revisit a song previously done

Andrew does this have to be a song we have posted before? Can the first post just be a statement of what song a what we want to improve? Some time ago I wanted to learn to pick and use a percussive tap at the same time , but never quite got it to a point of performing a song so never recorded anything. I would like to revisit that for this challenge if it falls within the criteria

@andrew thanks so much for the hints. Yes, I do see how much I was pulling on the strings. That was something that I had worked hard on trying to fix. Have gotten much better, but I think when making a recording I get a bit tense and it comes back like a little beast. That would explain why it sounded normal during my regular practice. So many thanks for the time and effort you put into these arrangements, lessons and wonderfully helpful comments. The lessons here bring me such joy. Hoping the coming year is wonderful for you

Running out of time this month. I have only had my baritone a couple of months. Played it in last months challenge and wanted to again. Honestly while practicing I thought it sounded good, but listening to my recording, it sounds a bit ‘off’ to me. Not sure if it is just a poor performance or if it is just the different key for the baritone. Anyway good luck to all on the upcoming drawing for the beautiful prize. Happy Holidays to everyone an I am looking forward to learning more with you all next year.

I chose etude 35. This is the first song I have ever played on a baritone. Amazing how just a bit of difference in size can throw you off and make you have to abandon muscle memory. Maybe it is just me, but it took me a bit to get used to the distance between frets. This etude is fun, I highly recommend it to those who have not tried it yet. Thank you @andrew.

@annemarie , I have also chosen #35. You played it so beautifully. I hope I will be able to play it that well eventually

I chose ‘A Frightful Strumming Etude’
I typically prefer to pick than strum, but I have been making an effort to improve on strumming. Loved that this etude combined the ghost strum with a chuck. This was a very fun etude to learn.

Everyone sounded great! I worked on game of thrones but was not satisfied enough to post, but loved listening to everyone. Congrats to shmu88.

Congrats @morrieuke1. @andrew thank you for listening and your comments. I really like that particular mini lesson. There are so many different types of technique within it. I think it may become a regular warm-up song for me.

Love everyone’s originals. I tried to embrace the write my own song theme. I love Spanish sounding tunes and was working on something, then caught covid. Did not play much for a couple of weeks and forgot my song. Lesson learned. Try to put it in tabs. With the time left I tried to learn Andrew’s Melody and harmony mini lesson. It has everything; picking, strumming, bar chords, partial par chords . Really good for practicing many technique. I still have some chord changes to iron out.

I only saw the Oppenheimer half of Barbenheimer double feature. I do think that “what was I Made For” is quite beautiful and would love to learn it one day. Everyone has done such a beautiful job with it and I am inspired. However, this month, my time was minimal. I did not want to go without playing, so spent my little bit of time on “Yellow Submarine”.

Good luck to all on the upcoming drawing for that lovely Baritone (Like many others, I would love to be lucky enough to win this one)

I actually got both the chord and the measure wrong. My struggle starts at measure 21 not 20
