@deadbuggy that was fabulous. That mango uke looks and sounds sweet.
I am working on ‘Clocks’ also. Measure 20, Emadd9 ARRRG! I think this chord has ‘madd’ in the middle because it can drive you mad trying to get it. Starts ok, but as soon as I add the 3rd (ring) finger, my middle finger collapses and the joint locks touching all the strings. The struggle is great with this one measure

I chose the 4/4 Waltz to work on this month. This tune is deceptively difficult. Was a great piece to work on using my little finger. It is weak and I avoid it as much as possible. Could not work around it with this one, so was much needed for me. Have really enjoyed everyone’s submissions. Here is mine

Welcome @grannieannie . At first I hesitated to join the monthly challenges, but they truly help you improve. An so many helpful comments and encouragement. I hope you take on next months challenge and many more after that. This is a very friendly community

@andrew thanks for your comments and encouragement. Also thank you for the fabulous songs and lessons. @The_Bumble_Bard thank you for listening and the compliments. Also for understanding how it is sometimes difficult to get your best recording. I have struggled the last year. About a year ago I broke one finger and hurt another in my left hand. As a result my left hand ring finger turns out slightly toward my pinky. Ever since, they seem to get into each others way. In addition, sometimes my ring finger (the one I broke) does not seem to go where I think I am putting it. I tend to miss the string sometimes. I know it is just a matter of time and practice to get used to what is now my normal, but wishing I was adjusting more quickly. I enjoyed your submission. Each month everyone really amazes me with their accomplishments.

I chose Red is the Rose this month. Running out of time to record which makes me more anxious when I do record. So though this is not the best I can do, it’s the best recording I could get in the last minute crunch. I have really enjoyed listening to everyone’s submissions.

This month has been very difficult, I am thankful to have these challenges. Practicing for them bring me joy and are a tremendous stress relief (until I need to record 🙂 ). This month I wanted to play my low G and thought a love song appropriate for February. So I chose the love song from The Godfather. Has some chord transitions that are tough for me and they still need work, but running out of time to record.

Have enjoyed everyone’s posts and seeing the progress. My plan had been to learn to tap and play melody at the same time and learn ‘Perfect’. Unfortunately , sometimes things come up delaying plans. An illness in the family has kept me busy. I did learn the tap and pick technique and much of ‘Perfect’. However, no time to finish on time or make a progress video. Will continue with it. Good job to all of you who challenged yourself and have met your goals.

I did something similar this past year. I started the year with a plan to improve strumming by working through the advanced strumming course with final Crossing Hemispheres. Was a wonderful journey, but took well over a month. I fear my goal set this January may also, but it fits well with the January challenge. I love Ed Sheeran and his tunes use different percussive techniques. My goal is to learn to tap a backbeat while playing a melody. I will practice this technique using @andrew’s exercises for ‘tapping backbeat plus melody simultaneously’. I will attempt to learn ‘Perfect’. Also, I consider myself to be seasoned beginner/ budding intermediate.

@andrew and all teachers, thank you so much for listening, giving constructive comments and encouragement over the last year. This year was more difficult for me than even my first year. The support and inspiration from everyone in this group helped me to push through hand/finger break and not give up. I noticed a couple of others who experienced similar issues and kept going. Music brings me so much joy and I am so thankful for the opportunity to participate in this wonderful group. Wishing all joy and peace. Keep strumming and picking!!!
