Participant@sarahd I have the exact same issue. when I have to stretch with little finger and it straightens, it locks in. I am fairly new to uke so have always assumed that it was a strength issue and that maybe it will resolve with time and more play time. I have never asked, so I will be very interested to see what comments address your question.

This month is my ukeiversary. Though I had hoped to be posting better performances by now, I am pleased with my overall progress for the year. Have had a blast learning what I have so far and am hoping that my second year is just as fun. Maybe by this time next year I’ll have the skills to tackle The Bond theme (I oh so what to play that). Here is my November. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

ParticipantCool @misterbones. I will definitely look up the duet. By the way your ukulele is my dream uke. When I have developed better skills it will be my reward/splurge

ParticipantNice! I am hoping to learn this song too. Posted my October challenge early (for me anyway) and have been working on this one, but it will take me a while to learn. Thanks for sharing.

I chose Moon River. I remember hearing my sister play this on piano when we were young. I hope she would have enjoyed hearing me play it on ukulele.

Participantnice theme for october. I saw hints that the theme would be Moon and was hoping ‘Fly me to the Moon’ would be one of the choices as I have had my eye on that one to learn. These choices are great though, I may just have to learn two Moon themed songs. one of these for the challenge and ‘Fly me to the Moon’ just because.. Going to be a good month I think.

Really horrible month for me this month so was not able to put in the time I needed. Even published my first shot video due to time constraints. But I guess it is all about progress. My goal this month was to learn 4 finger picking and try to get comfortable with it. I am now more comfortable with it than a month ago. Plan on this etude being a warmup piece for me each time I play with the hopes that this fingerpicking will get to be natural for meAugust 11, 2021 at 9:26 am in reply to: Participate in the August 2021 Member Challenge – Theme: Fingerpicking Etudes! #47949ldarrow
Participant@andrew and @robinboyd thank you for the comments and suggestions. the 4 finger picking is uncomfortable for me and I have been avoiding it. I chose this etude specifically because I know it is something I need to work on. So I will try to relax a bit and be a bit more delicate and smooth with it.. Repetition and practice hopefully will get me there. Again thanks for the help.
