lhamiltonParticipantThanks, @leb397! I was on a cruise and found a few spots to practice quietly, but the number of repetitions I’d need to memorize would have driven folk nearby insane.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I worked on Wildwood Flower. I was away for much of the month so haven’t learned yet to play without the music.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I tried the Game of Thrones theme. Definitely a challenge. I fiddled a bit with the ending — I practice on more than one ukulele and not all had frets as high as the score showed.

lhamiltonParticipantThanks @leb397 ! My son watched Ghostbusters again and again and again from the time he was 3 — and when he wasn’t watching it, he was dressing up as a ghostbuster and hunting ghosts throughout the house.

lhamiltonParticipantI’ve done a bit of noodling on the uke. However it’s far easier for me to do on my celtic harp since it’s diatonic so all the notes I’d noodle with are all that are available in a particular key till I flip a lever to change things.

lhamiltonParticipantForscore is lovely! I’ve stored my sheetmusic in it for years. It also syncs across devices. I work through the lessons with my apple pen and Forscore, marking up what will help me learn the piece and then print. Having Forscore means I have all my sheetmusic available everywhere I go. It also lets me categorize the pieces in a number of ways. So when I want to find a Christmas or a clawhammer piece, I just pick that category and it shows me what I have.

lhamiltonParticipantI still periodically have trouble with Soundslice dying while playing a loop on my iPad. It crashed actually tonight after working with it for a few minutes and I couldn’t get it back on either iPad. In one case, it just let out a single note. It’s not all that serious for me since I usually copy the piece I’m working on into Amazing Slowdowner. I’d prefer it didn’t freeze of course. I tried it with earbuds and that made no difference.
I like Soundslice very much for providing the sheetmusic for a piece and it never freezes while I’m doing that. I’m nearsighted and can’t read the numbers on the tablature pdfs provided with the lessons, so I set up Soundslice to have the tablature a bit bigger, bring it up into page view, then screengrab each page into an image which goes into the iPad photo area, and then select the photos and generate a single printable pdf which goes into my Forescore app.
