marianneParticipantHey friends!
This is a fun challenge.
I was travelling the first half of the month and could not get to picking anything without the context of a uke in hand.Execution: I am going to learn an Andalusian cadence.
Application: I will apply the chord progression to a version by Marco Cirillo in Bm. What is interesting about it is the different picking patterns as you progress in the tune.
Evaluation: I plan to focus on feel as a measure of success/interpretation.August 3, 2025 at 3:16 pm in reply to: Participate in the July 2025 Member Challenge – WIN a Custom Arrangement! #75387

marianneParticipant@Andrew 😁 and thank you!
2 weeks to do all that…?! there is no waaay! How on earth? 😅 he is truly incredible and how richer we all are that you put him to the test 😆
@grannieannie thank you too! I tried my best to record a version without the buzzes etc but impossible at this point in time. As Andrew said, a kick in the butt for sure! I pushed it and my left wrist is swollen 😆 I will keep practicing itJuly 28, 2025 at 5:42 pm in reply to: Participate in the July 2025 Member Challenge – WIN a Custom Arrangement! #74569
marianneParticipantHi RC101 friends,
I’m really enjoying everyone’s submissions—so inspiring!
I’d like to introduce you all to Carlos Fabio (short for Carbon Fiber 😉), my new, travel-friendly companion for the summer while I’m back home. I do miss Barry, no doubt!
As if adjusting to a new instrument wasn’t challenging enough, I somehow decided to take on Moonlight Sonata for this month’s challenge—clearly hypnotized by how breathtaking Evan’s arrangement and performance are. Absolutely stunning!
Midway through the month, I seriously considered giving up. It felt overwhelming—definitely beyond my skill level. But then I revisited Andrew’s lesson, and it gave me the push I needed. Thank you @Andrew for breaking things down so clearly and helping make those “impossible” chords and stretches feel manageable.
Evan, I hope I did your beautiful arrangement some justice. I’m excited to keep learning beyond the excerpt!

marianneParticipantOooh @Andrew, yes you are right! I misunderstood. Thanks a lot for the video! I will definitely try it.

marianneParticipantThanks @Andrew! Am doing that the first time into the chorus. The second time gets trickier because of the last last chords of measure 26 being 0 7 8 8 vs 0 0 8 8 like the first time around 😅

marianneParticipantLovely submissions all!
Here’s my take on Free Fallin’, adapted a tiny bit to suit the low G/baritone:

@The_Bumble_Bard the honor is mine. Thanks again for your kind words and for selecting the piece. You played it beautifully and absolutely did it justice! Very proud
@brettboy Your take sounds wonderful! Thanks for picking that and capturing the feel so well! It’s so cool seeing how everyone interprets it in their own way, giving it their own touch

marianneParticipantHere is Duality, playing both melody and lead. It was a bit tricky having to find ways around the super extended reaches on the baritone, and I could have slowed it down a bit but I got carried away! 😂 Very sweet composition @Andrew!
@The_Bumble_Bard thank you, I very much look forward to your performance 😊 -
