miztakenParticipantThat’s lovely!
Any mistakes are just creative differences between your brain and your fingers 😁
miztakenParticipant@rickeymike ….
What! You mean there is more to life than uke practice?!?! 😁(Hopefully my volunteer work starts this month)
miztakenParticipantCongratulations on your win, and your boyfriend who understands!
What a beautiful gift from him, and a wonderful day for you.
miztakenParticipantOh it’s good to see you back!
I hope life is settling and coming right again for you.
Take 1/2 an hour a day, every day, lock yourself in the toilet with your uke ;D
miztakenParticipantWelcome Roman!
There is so much to learn here, and such great teachers and arrangements. It is often hard to find just one song to learn, there are so many great options.
Have fun.September 29, 2019 at 7:04 pm in reply to: Participate in the October 2019 Member Challenge – WIN a CUSTOM Kanile’a! #30987
miztakenParticipantExciting few months ahead, The Sound of Silence for me too. It is so pretty.
I just had a look at the build your own Kanilea… $5,000 plus for my options ;D !!! Oh dear, I think I would have to pass on that…
miztakenParticipantWhat an amazing thing to do!!!
It is beautiful Lyndall.I think it needs an Australian Aboriginal rag print Uke strap to finish it off:

miztakenParticipantOMG! Thank you for that honest answer Andrew!!!
I have been playing for four years now (3 years strum, no formal lessons), 1 year RC101 with 4 months music teacher as well, 0-6 hours practice per day (those long ones just mean I am having so much fun that I just can’t stop 😁).
And with the 12 months of RC101 – I STILL feel like a beginner because there is so much to learn.
Thank goodness I love it, so the future years of learning will not be wasted.
miztakenParticipantHi @nerdjenni
Welcome to RC101!
Maybe your daughter will watch you and fall in love with the uke too.
It is such a joyful instrument, and this place is really supportive and sooooo much to learn.
(Always: Thanks Andrew, you do such an awesome job for US!).
miztakenParticipantHi @anirbaf … I would recommend my beloved aNueNue Moonbird.
It has wonderful volume (I have the concert, but Hotmilktea has the tenor).
Gorgeous looks, gorgeous sound. But you could also look at just getting a uke with a pick-up and a small amp.
We have four with pick-up: Kala tenor low G, Bohemian oil can uke, Fender concert low G and now a concert Eddie Finn bamboo.
They all go as LOUD as I want ;D
miztakenParticipantHa! I told my music teacher that Moonlight Sonata is what I want to work towards!!!
This is my ultimate piece (but I bet Andrew will just keep adding OTHER ultimate pieces, and I will never achieve everything in this life, but will have fun trying).
I am looking forward to watching your progress.
I have got as far as printing it out… ;D
miztakenParticipantWelcome Jonathon.
Andrew and this site have opened up a big wonderful world of music for all of us. Enjoy.August 29, 2019 at 10:15 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2019 Member Challenge – World Music Themed! #30004
miztakenParticipantHmmmm…. @lyndallk – I think you have the wrong Robin Boyd there!
That one is smiling!
The @robinboyd we see, NEVER smiles 😁😁😁
(Looks lovely me you got the right Tiffany though 👍).August 25, 2019 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2019 Member Challenge – World Music Themed! #29945
miztakenParticipantI have just swapped around my Moonbird to low G, and my Eucalele back to high g.
I think the Moonbird is more suited to low G tuning as it has the wide bout and is naturally more bass-y sounding.
I use Living Water flurocarbon strings for both, I really love the really deep “boom” on the low G string, it goes straight to my heart.
I had the scary requirement of having to sand the nut to fit the low G string (the Living Water string is really thick), it fits well now but I think one edge is a bit sharp as it is scratching the new string as it stretches and gets retuned constantly for now. I will smooth that off today.
As long as you don’t go deeper, take it slow and just sand out the sides of the G string nut space and ensure the edges are smooth – no problems. (and I just thought “Nuts can be replaced…” before I took the plunge into the DIY task).
miztakenParticipantWOW, that is wonderful! You are a natural player.
You certainly have earned your Moonbird!
I love your delicate and elegant style of playing. -
