miztakenParticipant@lyndallk – when you hit that harmonic, all the falling apart pieces are forgotten!!!
I was cursing about the same thing yesterday – just trying to make improvement videos for myself… and every one was evidence that I am just getting worse!!! Unbelievable, up to 8 hours practice a day (on holiday) – and I appear worse on video. All recordings ended up in the bin. π
miztakenParticipantHi Ian,
Welcome from Sydney!
I love your stand – my new Quilted Eucalyptus ukulele (Christmas present to come) would look awesome perched on that! π
@becky7777 – the wood has had the bark stripped and has been polished up – gorgeous eh.
miztakenParticipant…ALCOHOL… have 1/2 a glass of wine to settle your nerves, but no more or it will interfere with brain and finger coordination…
I think you are AMAZING to do this!!!
miztakenParticipantCONFESSION TIME:
I found the key, and have spent the last 40 minutes trying out my beautiful CK-450QEL!!!
It is astounding, with amazing sustain, a beautiful clear sound, unbelievable volume.
It sounds as good as it looks – I am seriously in love.
Mike put Living Water strings on it, which are a bit of a pain at the moment because they currently go out of tune every minute while they wear in. But, when in tune – they really are lovely strings. It sounds so much better than my Kala tenor, which I will now have to pay to be set up properly – because now I have standards π
I just have to work out how to fit in some more sneaky playing time – husband goes to office two days per week, BUT daughter is due back from Bali in a couple of days π
I am bad, but the instrument is so good, it is worth the sin.
miztakenParticipantOr THE Australian Poet: PAUL KELLY – To Her Door.
I would sooo love a finger style version (instead of strumming it wildly, like I do now).
It is a song with great layers, and I am so sure you could do it justice.
miztakenParticipantAn Australian Classic: The Hoodoo Gurus – What’s My Scene?
miztakenParticipantKatrina and the Waves: Walking on Sunshine.
miztakenParticipant@becky7777 I know he hid them in the lounge while I wasn’t looking… I am sure I can find them π
miztakenParticipant@kayleighb – Ha! I will get the delivery email, so I will know when it is coming, AND I can re-book delivery for a time / day that I am home (hahaha π ).
I shall definitely plan some way of getting my hands on it before Christmas.-

miztakenParticipant@becky7777 I love the giant room sound!
It is like you are the Pied Piper playing for and enticing the dead into the room.October 31, 2018 at 12:31 am in reply to: Question about stock laptop mic, vs. VERY inexpensive pickup #19688
miztakenParticipant@lisadmh ;D ;D ;D funny!
Our daughter is coming home tonight for a few months (from Prague)… like you I shall have to learn to play quieter, or go down to the dungeon to practice.
Husband is VERY tolerant and encouraging, not sure how our daughter will be – especially when I practice up to six hours a day :O πAnd I blame my wimpy hammer ons on the ukulele – my Aeirsi resonates well, my Kala Tenor – not so well (see, it’s all the ukulele’s fault).
miztakenParticipant@kanae926 – no amount of practice will improve this dud! We tested it with the tuner, definitely not good high up the neck. Could be a good fruit bowl…
It is fine for strumming at the uke group on Sundays, they all sound out of tune anyway π
@becky7777 – I felt like beating it last night!!! So it could well become a drum.
And re the new uke… I just have to get there first…HA!-

miztakenParticipantWOW! @kanae926 !!!
That was awesome – I cannot believe you picked up your first uke 6 months ago!
Have you played other instruments at all?
I am going to be watching your progress π
miztakenParticipantAnd now I have progressed to the Fingerpicking & Strumming (Angelo Reyes) class… and it sounded so WRONG!!!
Thank goodness for musician husband… he worked out that my cute looking Aeirsi concert ukulele is really a Chinese made TOY!!! It is sooooo out of tune higher up the neck that A is almost a B, and I cannot get good sound from it. Darn it!
So, back to my Kala Tenor which is too big for my hands for picking, and Beloved Husband says I cannot have my fancy Ohana Eucalyptus Concert Ukulele until Christmas!
Time to practice those stretches I guess.…unless I get to the delivery man first π …
miztakenParticipantEvan, I have been watching your version of Taimane’s “Moon”.
Your playing is exquisite, almost has me in tears! -
