nthibodeMemberHere is Five Foot Two Eyes of Blue from this five-foot-one, eyes-of-brown girl. That was a fun course! I especially liked how short the lesson videos were so that they could be viewed/practiced in one sitting. Now I just need to find some songs to apply the techniques to. Nice strumming everyone!

nthibodeMember@laurasil I’ve been trying to find songs that work well with the drum-like rhythm strum. That’s a good one! Nice work.
nthibodeMemberNeat @robinboyd!
What do you think — maybe a piano theme for the next challenge?
nthibodeMember@robinboyd – a retirement project then, perhaps?
Thanks for the response! I can imagine it being a very rewarding experience.
As a side note James Hill and his wife performed in my hometown last year. It was awesome!
nthibodeMemberBeautiful @lyndallk! I also have James Hill’s Duets for One but haven’t tried any songs in it yet. Perhaps it is time!
Is building your own uke a cost-saving process (spending time rather than money)? Or is the experience the emphasis?
nthibodeMemberWay to put yourself out there Robin! Hopefully it’s something you’ll really enjoy. Be honest about your skills/passion and don’t worry about it if it doesn’t work out; they’ll find someone else and you’ll move on. I think trying it out will be a great way to learn and expand. Make sure you bring along the skills and techniques you’ve gained from RC101! How do you feel about playing in front of crowds?
nthibodeMemberVery cool!
nthibodeMemberLet me know how it goes, @robinboyd! I would love to try this one too.

nthibodeMemberThanks @jinajupiter! I can’t help but smile; the ukulele makes me very happy 🙂
I seem to recall you smile quite a bit in your videos too. I look forward to your performances!

nthibodeMemberIt’s true that I would not have normally picked these songs to learn, so thank you Rock Class 101 for helping me branch out! In fact I couldn’t decide between Kemp’s Jig and Eastern Uke, so I branched out even further and learned both.
As always, love seeing everyone’s work. See you next month!

nthibode. Reason: Uploaded the wrong video for Kemp's Jig. Just subtle differences!
nthibodeMemberGreat recap! It’s fun to see the progress throughout. I remember really liking your performance of A Thousand Years.
nthibodeMemberI agree with Lisa, try to learn both. I had the same struggles as you, @tastyshrimp, with the slap-pluck chucking and finger positioning. The key for me was to start really slowly — get the technique down at a really slow pace, then gradually increase the speed. It takes time, but is worth the effort.
nthibodeMemberVery relaxing! Nice one.
