rickeymikeMemberLisa, I’m with you…over my head. ha. I’m craving to learn everything there is and I can’t make sense of a lot. Andrew’s quote “Lead sheet is good for chord melody writing”. OH, that’s so encouraging and I’d love to learn how to do it. My objective is to get a lead sheet, learn how to play the melody and then be able to add some chord melody where most appropriate to make it sound fuller. The Reading Course could possibly expand to include this in future.
rickeymikeMembernever tried it but you could try to print in landscape mode with a bigger font.
rickeymikeMemberAndrew, do you recommend lead sheets and embellish (or not) on your own….. Is the purchase of a lead sheet the best investment?

rickeymikeMemberGood job, Matt and Andrew. It went (at least for me) easy peasy!

rickeymikeMemberCourtney, Oh My! May I have your autograph? So well done…….I’m still at the chord melody and am so dreading the fingerpicking verse and chorus which you did so smoothly. Great work.

rickeymikeMemberOh, no! 6pm Central time is when I feed and walk my pup. She’ll just have to be fed and walked an hour earlier. She’s really going to hate that. Haha.
rickeymikeMemberPutting feeling into it and conveying a story : I think there is no better teacher than Frank Sinatra.

rickeymikeMemberGianluca, very nice. You made it sound and look effortless. I love that melody also. It sounds like the song called Loch Lomond. I wonder if there is any connection between the two?

rickeymikeMemberStephen, thanks. And yes, I read it backwards so I wouldn’t get used to reading it forward and start memorizing as an unwanted consequence….best method I could come up with without having flash cards. Ha.
I found this out early when I unconsciously memorized AABCCBAG…LOL.Oh, and the one syllable verbalization of Bflat is the reason I’m going to have a lot of trouble with this month’s voice challenge. I seem to need a syllable with each note in order to “sing & play” at the same time. ha.
rickeymikeMemberAndrew, Yes, yes, and yes. I get it. Thanks for the explanation. However (you knew there was going to be an “however” in there somewhere. ha), grasping it and implementing it is entirely different. I will definitely give it my best shot. I’m not going to like it but I’m giving it my best shot.
My friends, when they are telling a personal occurrence , I have the bad reputation of asking “too many questions”. Ha. I always want to delve deeper into the story. They just tell me to shut up and why do I want to know all this superfluous stuff.
Anyhow thanks for your time and it didn’t ramble. Actually, how ’bout you, Katie and I sitting down to coffee for about an hour to discuss good ole Danny. I’ll spring for the coffee. haha.
P.S. And I thought I would have this mastered by the 17th……NO WAY

rickeymikeMemberBen-nice reading!
Wong-love how you kept time with the metronome!
Robin – It’s funny how you changed to the middle C because when I was reading and playing, I thought that high C was a little strange because from listening to it in the long past I was expecting something lower like middle C. Good going

rickeymikeMemberWhoops and dang it. I forgot to pluck with my index and middle fingers. Instinct took over and reverted to thumb only.

rickeymikeMemberHey Nat,That was pretty. I’ve loved Greensleeves since I first heard it as a kid when my dad took me to see the movie “How The West Was Won”.
