robinboydParticipantNah, never recorded it. I was going to, but then I got the flu and I forgot about it. It’s starting to come back to me now. Here is a snippet. That high note’s still a real struggle.
robinboydParticipantTo be honest, that was just a little interlude for between sung verses, and I had to use my Bb-tuned uke to get it in a key that suits my voice. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to hit the high notes.
robinboydParticipantThis is very very rough, but you get the idea. It’s much simpler than yours.
robinboydParticipantI remember working out an arrangement of this for low G a while back, but I forgot to write it down. It didn’t have so much movement on the neck, which made it easier to play, but didn’t have the same impact as those slides…
robinboydParticipantNice job!

robinboydParticipantI don’t think there’s anything that I feel like I’ll never by able to do anymore. There are plenty of things that I still can’t do, but that’s only because I haven’t gotten around to learning them yet.

robinboydParticipant3 things I never thought I’d be able to do?
1. Strum and sing at the same time
2. Pick out a tune
3. Chunk
I’ve achieved all of them and then some!
robinboydParticipantTeardrop! Nice!
robinboydParticipantMy biggest uke-piphany was before joining RC101. It was when I realised how meaningless strumming patterns were as long as you remember to strum down on the down beat and strum up on the up beat. From there, you can remove strums as you see fit and add things like fan strums and chunks on down beats if you want.
After joining RC101, it was when I finally managed to do harmonics consistently.

robinboydParticipantWe have enough now that we have a 1 in 1 out policy. When we bought our last uke (the low G concert), we gave away the uke it replaced.
robinboydParticipantNice progress!

robinboydParticipantMy wife is an early childhood educator, so the idea was to play the uke and sing with the children. She just hasn’t gotten around to doing it yet.
As for getting multiples of the same size, I have 2 concerts because I like to play concert size, and I have a low G on one.

robinboydParticipantYes, the top 4 strings of a guitalele are the same as for a low g ukulele. The top 4 strings of a low G ukulele are also the same as a guitar relative to each other, just in a different key. The guitalele is the same as a guitar relative to each other, but in the same key as the ukulele. I hope that makes sense. I know it’s a bit tricky.
I’ve always been pretty good at stretch chords. I can do that stretch on my tenor.

robinboydParticipant@surferjay – That’s definitely a lot of stuff
I see my guitalele as kind of a transition instrument between the ukulele and the guitar. I started on the uke, and still only play a little bit of guitar, but the guitalele helped me bridge the gap. It’s much more comfortable for me to carry and hold than a full-sized guitar.
My one is a little bit fancy, but I got it ultra cheap second-hand because it has a few cracks in it that don’t affect the sound or playability.
