stinyukeMemberThanks a lot for the feedback Stephen! Yeah my left hand really feels a bit sore after playing for a long time so I will pay attention to proper left hand form.

stinyukeMemberVery cool Ukuleleloo. I had the same idea to add some chords to the song i played, but wasn’t sure what and when and didn’t have enough time time to work on that.

stinyukeMemberWow! As a passionate Irish Dancer I’m super excited about this challenge! My goal is to learn The Irish Washerwomen somewhen in the future, when my playing gets better, as I danced several times to this Jig. But for now I’ll learn one of the other songs 🙂

stinyukeMemberThanks @nthibode! I loved your performance as well!
Hey Rickey! Yes! still in the States and correct, we’re in South Carolina! You could tell that from the background, right? 🙂

stinyukeMemberHi everyone!
Here is my submission for this month’s challenge. Thank you Andrew for making this challenge part of the standard notation reading course, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have done it so soon.
I felt very inspired by some participants playing the harmony. Since I put a low G on my old soprano Uke I wanted to give it a try. Even though my soprano doesn’t sound great I’m quite happy with the result. I played “Aura Lee” and actually it took me longer to practice the harmony than the melody 🙈.
So here it is, hope you like it:
Oh and the reason for the knocking on the ukulele at the beginning was to match both videos so that the timing was correct.

stinyukeMemberThinking of you Anne and Tom! What a great idea, Andrew. And I’m in as well for learning the song 🙂
stinyukeMember@becky7777 I use an app by Soundcorset, which has a tuner and e metronome. I don’t use the tuner, but the metronome is very useful. You can change the rhythm and emphasise some beats and even record yourself with the metronome, if you want to check that out. In the attachments you see what’s the icon looks like. Hope that helps 🙂

stinyukeMemberHere are my results for this months challenge:
My goal was improve technique and work on proper left and right hand form and apply it on three songs I’ve already memorised. I wanted to be able to play them as clear and as fluently as possible.
Conclusion: All three songs improved much compared to the beginning of the month even though there are still some unclear sounds and some accidental pull off sounds. Here are my third recordings for “Canon in D” and for “Etude in E-minor” on Soundcloud:
“Daydreaming” was set in New Orleans with @rickeymike! Thank you Rickey for announcing me and for the personal tour! We very much enjoyed our visit in New Orleans!

stinyukeMember@lisadmh Wow, I’m impressed! Really like the song. It’s actually one of my goals to write a song some time, but i still have so much to learn until I’ll be able to do that 🙂
stinyukeMemberAaaww thanks a lot for the video! It perfectly answered my question and sorry for the confusion. It was hard to explain the problem, especially because English is not my first language. Probably I’ll do a video next time 🙂
Actually my problem was only at the Fm chord in melody B, where I find it difficult to touch string 4 and play the other strings with a clear sound. But I saw how you did that in the video so I’ll work on that.

stinyukeMemberThe last two weeks I’ve focused on proper left and right hand form and I had the impression that it helped so much for my playing – especially for the “Etude in E-minor”.
I’ve also planned time to practice on technique in every practicing session like hammer-ons and pull-offs.
I broke down the pieces I was working on and focused on the parts that I had to improve instead of playing the whole songs over and over again. This is the result:Much improvement for “Etude in E-minor” and “Daydreaming”. It got much smoother and in “Etude in E-minor” the notes sounded much clearer. I struggled a bit with “Canon in D” today while I recorded it. I thought I could play it better than what I’ve recorded but i improved on the transition between Am and Em in Melody 3, which is a big improvement for me.
Btw: I joined Rockclass 101 in October and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned until now! Thank you Andrew and the team of Rockclass 101 for being here for us and make playing the ukulele so much enjoyable!
