ParticipantI’m sure if you post your version even if it does not win we would love to hear.. the real prize is the creativity itself 🙂

ParticipantThats some great stuff you shared! I’m away most of this summer so will setup a home studio when I’m back. Been doing lots of reading and just wanted to add something for a looper solution (affordable).
In Abelton Live there is a decent looper built in with the same functionality as Boss/Ditto loopers. You can add as many loopers as you want so I’m going to buy a USB triple foot pedal and map a single looper to each one. This way you have all the functionality of an expensive looper but for about $20.
Hope this is useful 🙏🏻

ParticipantHad lots of fun playing Mixolydian in F. It’s a great position to play from. Really nice sound.
I found lots of ways to use to combine the pentatonic with modes like you said.
For instance if I’m playing over an A Dorian Chord Progression instead of thinking to much about how to play the A Dorian scale I can use the Am Pentatonic to play both.
1. Am Pentatonic works over A Dorian (notes match)
2. I can use Am Pentatonic to play A Dorian by adding in F# to the Pentatonic (so basically I have Dorian minus one note but still get the Dorian sound because of the F#).
3. If number 2 does not make sense I can play the pentatonic scale a step up ie play B minor pentatonic and it does this automatically. So basically playing A minor pentatonic with F# added gives Dorian or playing B minor pentatonic over Aminor gives Dorian.
Lots of good stuff to make improv easier.

ParticipantThat’s awesome, not something I’ve played with.. I’ll have a play with all of that and see if I can add it into my playing.
Thanks for taking the time. 😍

ParticipantThe Ditto x4 looks perfect. Literally nice and compact with everything you need to control the loops.
I’m in the market for a new Uke that will have to wait but definitely added to my list of things I want to add to my setup.

ParticipantThank you so much for taking the time to write in such detail! That really helped. I just checked my amp and had no idea at the back it had audio out/in.. Makes sense. I literally have everything but the audio interface so will get on with reviewing your recommendations for that!
Thank You 🙂

Participant@sir_anzalot Good to know re the RC-1 I had no idea. Given that my $35 looper has 9 memory slots it’s odd why they would not implement that. What I also like about the RC-1 (maybe you can confirm) its that you can operate it with battery (less wires is always good).
What I would love is a way to control different loops… For instance on my $35 loop I can stack loops and delete/redo so I can record a drum beat, hold down the button delete it and then bring it back with another press of the button.. But if I stack another loop on top of it the drum beat is permanently embedded in the loop. This is slightly annoying as often you’re bringing the loop to a climax and then back down again… However, with everything stacked you just cant do this.. I’ve seen other loopers with more pedals and I am guessing you can seperatae the loops onto different pedals i.e Percussion on one.
Something I may look into..

ParticipantAnother sample of with the cheapest loop pedal out there!

ParticipantThanks so much for the detailed advice it really helps clarify everything.
Fishman Amp – This is the only thing that I’ve spent any real money on to date. The tone is really unreal. I 1000% recommend it. I brought a cheap amp before this.. it was ok just not in the same league.
I’ll check out the Scarlett sounds great if it comes bundled with software. My wife has a mac so I’ll check out garage band also.
I get all the parts needed I’m just confused how it all connects..
I’m guessing the the Uke plugs into the audio interface as does the amp? And the laptop? Does act like a hub?
I’m also confused in regards to the video as this just separate and then you remove the sound from the phone video and replace with the sound sample from the DAW..
This is how I’m filming currently so it’s very bare bones haha

ParticipantThat sounds really interesting! I have a fishman amp which Andrew recommended. The tone is beautiful (my phone recording does not do it justice).
I don’t mind buying an interface they seem cheap enough.. any insights would be appreciated!

ParticipantThanks 🙂
The looper is such an awesome tool… The timing went completly at the end haha but I was enjoying myself with the solo to much to notice.
I would love to hear anything you make with loops, look forward to hearing it 🙂
surferjay
ParticipantThat is awesome 🙂 Looks perfect!

ParticipantThanks 👍 just watched it, really great info on how to setup a Uke with bare bones hardware.

Participant@sir_anzalot … No idea, I’m no expert and don’t own a Uke worth more than $300 🙂 I hope to buy a nice one this summer if I get to travel 🙂
The Anue Anue ukes sound beautiful especially finger picked but they are mass manufactured in China as opposed to something like a Kanelia created by known luthiers, hand crafted for years in Hawaii.
I’m probably wrong but I would try playing the chord(s) with perfect fingering (not during a song but one at a time … if it does not buzz the problem can be fixed with more practise if it does perhaps take it to an expert (not me) 😍
