AndrewKeymasterHi Marni, sure! You could also tap just the 12th fret of the A string or even easier, play the open A string in its place 🙂

AndrewKeymasterKevin: “Does “Moon” have to be performed in low G to qualify (I didn’t see this mentioned anywhere above, but perhaps missed it)? I imagine it won’t sound quite right given the mood of the song, but I really want to learn this one!”
Yes, it will sound very off with high G.
I double checked with Mike from Uke Republic and he said it is okay to put low G on your high G uke:
“Sometimes they may need to file the nut but many times it fits fine. Choices they might consider if they just want a single low G – Fremont Soloist – no squeak, Aquila – Silver wound, Living Water, Fremont Fluorocarbon for those that prefer fluoro set in strings.”

AndrewKeymasterGlad you guys dig it 🙂
And Zion: “Do I have to include the vocal part of Moon for it to count towards the challenge, or can I just keep playing?”
No, optional.

AndrewKeymasterIt is the uke, technique looks A-Okay!
AndrewKeymasterYes!
AndrewKeymasterHi Jeanie! Glad you found us 🙂
AndrewKeymasterWelcome Mikkel! That’s a fun song! It was a difficult one to get down. I remember that I ended up re-recording it the next day, as the first take I laid down was wayyy too fast. Looking back, I’m glad I spent the extra time on it 🙂
AndrewKeymasterTotally fine! I do same too, just watch out on how hard the attack is. We only need to come down with enough force to create the percussive sound.
AndrewKeymasterWhen you come down, with a claw shape, it will hit the nails and the skin above it. You shouldn’t be getting cuts… perhaps you are coming down too hard. Try to lighten the attack, we only need to come down with enough force to produce the percussive effect.
