AndrewKeymasterWow Christy! You are rocking for 1 month of playing, great job! One thing that I noticed: when strumming, your wrist sticks out and then your hand curves in. We want to keep our strumming hand and wrist straight. Which looks like this:

Check out these two lessons from our beginners course for more tips on strumming:
Overall, I’m really impressed by you, keep up the good work!

Well played ultramom! Timing sounds great! I’m glad you are back to playing the ukulele, it’s so much fun ๐ A couple days ago I left some feedback for Quentin on this song. He was having some issues with the chords sounding a little funny. And it really comes down to muting the 4th string when you strum, as the open G note will clash with this chord progression. I’ll link the video starting at that spot below for some suggestions to help you clean up that section. But other than that, keep playing it sounds great!

smokedcow1807, wow you’ve got some speed! Great playing! Moving forward, I would focus on polishing up the piece a touch. So actually, if you watch the video I embedded above, but start from the beginning, the tips in there will help you. For example one thing you can work on is to make sure that when you transition from the riff to the chords that your timing remains constant. And just double check that you don’t speed up in a section.
By the way, the YouTube link didn’t work but the download link did. Just an FYI for others that want to listen to your performance ๐

AndrewKeymasterThat was excellent ser_ser! I really dig the pause that you put in at 17 seconds. This song does really well with stylistic expressions. Another song that does well too is “In the Hall of the Mountain King“, except with that one I think it’s cool to increase the tempo for each successive melody.
One thing that I think will help you with the walk down chords section is to use your ring and middle finger to form the C chord. This will help set you up for an easier transition to the next chord. Give that a shot and let me know if you have any other questions. Truly great job, keep up the good work!
And a big Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I am thankful for all of you ๐

AndrewKeymasterWay to go Deb! That’s a challenging tune and you did so well! I’ve got a few suggestions for you. First (and I’m going to make this generalized for others that are reading your feedback), we talked about using the on-screen tab viewer with the metronome activated as a guide to help you practice (See my advice for Deb from last month challenge beginning in this post and the 3 immediate posts underneath it). Did you get a chance to approach practicing this song the same way?
One thing I noticed you did quite a bit involved the ring finger bending at the first knuckle (for ex: 39 seconds in). I want you to watch that as you continue to practice and try to keep it curved on the fingertip. In the second Melody, or the walk-down chord section, I’d like you to give the fingerings that I suggest for the chords a shot. It’s going to be much easier to use those fingerings for the transitions. Let me know if you need help on the barre chord that’s in it. Overall, I’m very impressed with you and you established a great base for this song. Keep up the good work!

AndrewKeymasterActually, I just helped a member privately with a question about moving from Form 1 to 2. She was working on the last performance piece from the beginner’s course. Here was her questions, maybe it might be helpful for you. If not, please post a video with what you are working on specifically and I’d be happy to review it and offer tips.

Iโm a massive fan of your page, and I have been going through your beginner course which has helped me to improve massively. However, I am struggling with one thing, and that is to with the intermediate strum and fingerpick lesson (last lesson of the beginner course); how are you able to switch between form 1 and form 2 so easily with your left hand?
From bar 4-5 and on bar 13 (outro). It looks like you switch from form 2 to form 1, but I canโt quite manage to do it as smoothly as you do.
