anirbafParticipantThanks for the recommendations! as I said only is not an issue right now. if I find something I like I can wait and save up. i just don’t want any compromises. I’m not fond of the amplifier idea for reasons, that’s why I’m looking for an instrument that is quite loud already. maybe I should try a koaloha tenor then just to see the difference to my current uke (:
anirbafParticipantohhh I think it’s awesome you said yes to performing with others! I’d love to fo that. I practice by myself always and I think it would be more motivating to have others near me who are as passionate about the ukulele. maybe i need to look for a band ^^
btw the test said I’m an adventurer. not being an english native I only just read something on the side about that personality type thing but have no clue what the abbreviations actually mean. maybe i’ll look it up some of these days. good night for now (:
anirbafParticipantthat explains it!
and for the asking questions, I know and I appreciate it very much! so far I am able to learn everything by myself using the tab viewer and printed tabs. I am amazed by the amount of work you guys put in so that rc101 has a very personal feeling to it.
I will keep your words in mind and stick with thinking out loud and maybe learn an easier piece parallel.
thanks so much (:
anirbafParticipanthaha i think it has benefits to try both tunings. the D6 tuning makes for a louder maybe more pronounced sound due to the tight strings. if you play by yourself you can still play the same tunes, it will all just be a whole tone higher.
anirbafParticipanthey becky7777 i think you should really try those hard tunes all the same! i do it all the time! in the beginning it’s so much slower than the original but when muscle memory kicks in just two / three days later it’s amazing what you can learn!
i just had this with thinking out loud – i started, thought it was too freaking hard and was about to give it up. a week later my hands are getting used to all the tapping and i think i can probably make it – slowly – and it’s super fun (:
anirbafParticipantI’d always, always recommend to go to a local store and try as many ukes as you can. in the end it has to fit you and your personality, no matter the internet reviews.
after two years of playing i wanted to buy my first concert size ukulele. I tried four models in one store which were all of great quality and some out of my budget. waited two days, tried everything in a second store and when I finally came back to the first one I found her. I just knew it was her. a little out of my planned budget but totally worth it and i couldn’t be more happy.
i think we get blinded by good deals and professional reviews. i feel that one uke that really fits you and you enjoy playing is much more valuable than five good deals hanging on the wall.
anirbafParticipantI’d love an arrangement of ‘la vie en rose’ fingerpicking style (:
anirbafParticipantyeah right, i actually never tried one. I also never saw one in the stores around here.
anirbafParticipantit sounds so unexpected, i love it !
anirbafParticipantwow i didn’t expect an extra video, thanks so much!
anirbafParticipanthow about “reflections” (:
anirbafParticipantthis is so beautiful! i think the time after rainfall is absolutely fitting! the scent when everything is still wet but everybody still inside with some light peeking through the clouds. plus it’s amazing what you can do after just six months!! where did you learn your songwriting skills you inspire me to try it myself (:
anirbafParticipantdo you have a recording of it? i’d like to hear it (:
anirbafParticipanti recently got the flight travel uke, it’s made out of ABS plastic and a wooden top. i chuck it into my bagpack no problem. as for the playing i like the sound considering that its made of plastic. intonation gets a little off when i come up and above the seventh fret though. i heard the waterman necks bend quite a lot.
anirbafParticipantbit late, but maybe it’s your fingers?? i have squeaking with aquila new nylgut but no problems with aquila’s carbonblack. i have pretty dry hands though.
