biancakParticipantWhen it comes to ukulele playing, 2020 was a fun year thanks to you 🙂
Female teacher: Victoria Vox
Not only a brilliant performer but a great teacher, too. I attended a few workshops with her and she was so good at explaining the strumming patterns to match with the songs, plus how to modify them for the intro/outro and for the singing parts, the verses or chorusStyle: Ukulelezaza
You had Freight Train from him. But he has so many other songs in his booklets that I’d like to learn. They are all with a similar technique in combining the melody and strumming but each comes with a different twist. Something with his style or from him would be fun.Cheers

biancakParticipantHi Andrew,
Here comes version 2…
Faster, more fluid, with a couple of notes mixed up (memory fails…) and even though bar 29 is still uncertain at least it’s different from the first submission 😀

biancakParticipantSomething from Katie Melua would be nice 🙂

biancakParticipantHi Andrew, Thanks for the feedback.
I don’t know why, but I find the quarter note triplets most difficult to play after four eight notes, I tend to get them syncopated I guess… they are usually ok after a half note, or two quarter notes or eight note triplets. Now the more I practice this, the less sure I am that I’m getting it right… 😮August 18, 2020 at 6:30 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2020 Member Challenge – Theme: Songs You Requested! #40414
biancakParticipantI’m a premium member and this is where I am now – struggling to keep focus and flow for the total length of the song…
Nice arrangement, thanks.

biancakParticipant@mark1256, thanks for the tip. Good to know there’s a workaround if memorising fails 🙂

biancakParticipant@lisadmh, It’ll be C string for me, too, and slower tempo 🙂
No chance to play it from memory within August, so most probably I’ll record it while playing from the muted play along tab to avoid having to turn 5 pdf pages on the screen…
Good luck with the subtleties! I know exactly what you meanBy the way, last year I’ve seen a few performers at various festivals playing from an iPad, turning pages by tapping on something on the floor with the foot. Anyone knows how that works / what it is called?!? Would be useful longer term…

biancakParticipantHi, I’m working on “Wonderful Tonight” this month. Having 2 dilemmas:
1) In my favourite recordings of the original, actually the tempo is much slower, only around 85% of the play-along tempo. If I can get the sound nice and clear but still with a nice flow, I think I’ll go for a slower tempo.
2) Can’t decide which versions to follow for verse2 bars 24 and 28. The downloadable tablature and the tutorial repeats the low G, while the recording and the play-along repeats C = third string…
I’ll soon have to make my decisions so I can start proper practice for a recording 🙂
