Thanks Stephen! I’m not sure how to do a call and response, but I’ll see if I can figure it out.

Wow, amazing job. Very mellow. I like your groove a lot. I’ll get up to the level of that song eventually. Congrats on the progress.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I can’t manage to do. I’ll keep trying. Super awkward.

Sorry. The build up, bars 19 thru 21, with a mute on the G. I can’t do all four strings, nor can I mute the G.

Hey Andrew, is there something around here in using the thumb to mute the g string? I trying to get the build up on this song but failing terribly. You do it so well, but I can’t seem to grab it right. I might have a form problem.

    As always, thank you!!

Hey there. I think the ah ha moments really depends on where you’re at in terms of level. Have you found the Learning Paths page? You can find it at the bottom of every page. It’s a good guide. My First Song was the ah ha that got me really hooked at the very beginning. Movable chord shapes were another big ah ha. The big improvements are gradual though.

As for ukes, I seem to have accumulated a few, lol. My Islander is my favorite. Is a nice mid range uke, one of the cheapest solid wood ones. Sure I’d love a fancy one like Andrew’s, but I’m good where I’m at. I think a fancy uke well make a good player sound even better, but one must still know how to play it or it won’t sound good.

For strings, I love flurocarbon. Once I found those, there was no going back. ☺

Here it is. I wrote this this month. It is pure noodling on a basic chord progression. I haven’t gotten beyond page 10 of music composition for dummies.

I’ve written 4 songs for my cats, so I was told this one had to be for my partner.

I know Andrew, I’m tight. I’m working on it, but this is the last weekend of the month. Just pretend my execution is better than it is.😀

It’s got bar chords and partial bars. I really worked that A shape that troubles me so much. It’s got a melody run that’s actually not just up the a string. It’s got harmonics. It’s very basic I know, nothing like some of the originals y’all ate posting, but it’s my 8th original song and I just love writing little originals.

Oooh, pick mine, pick mine! It’s not the best by any stretch but it caters to the many level 1 players. 😀😀😀😀

Posting today. I bet you can’t wait, lol.

Amazing addition. Thank you both for this!

Really, 6564 to 9798? Lol. I’ve got some work to do. I can’t wait to get this one down. With or without cheats, I will do it.

Or…. Teach a member’s original arrangement if they’re game! There are some great originals in this month’s challenge. How cool would it be to teach us one of those??

Imagine by John Lennon? That’s gotta be good for a vote off.

Most of the songs I request are too obscure to make the list.

For what it’s worth, I have all the sizes and like different ones for different things. My go to is soprano. I have fairly large hands for a woman but my stretch isn’t good so it’s easier. My low g is tenor, which I love for the g but I can’t do any stretch. Harmonics do ring better though on tenor. Concert is a reasonable compromise between the two. Soprano always for big stretches though.

Thanks boss. I’ll try to add one more bar to the 5 set without losing my flow. 😎 And I’ll pay more attention to this in the future.

Hey @Andrew. How important is it to stick with a song structure of a certain number of bars? I realize I have a section of 8 bars, then a 4, then an 8, then a 5, then another 8. Is this a critical error? I’ve never looked at this before. Google tells me sections of 8 bars is standard.

In an hour of intense composition I added 15 seconds of music. This is tough.
