maryjanewParticipant@otzepeng -I thought about using that method for the bar D but didn’t. Maybe I’ll try that again. With my small hands, I think I kept muting the A string with the Bar Bm7.

Here is my song choice for the month, The Skye Boat Song. The trickiest part of this song for me was the Bar D chord! I was starting to get it and untried on different uses to see which one played better. Now here are my excuses! my whole extended family got a nasty stomach virus and I was the last one to get it.(thought I’d dodged the bullet!!) I’ve been down fora couple days and I am still a little shaky. I have touched an Uke since Monday and I just gave a shot at it today took a few takes and just went with the last one. the arthritis in my left thumb is aggravated and that has limited me as well. ok excuses done, here is my version for now. This is definitely one I want to keep playing

maryjanewParticipantI’ve never been able chat live. I’m testing now. I love you festivals. The one I’ve gone to the most is Reno Uke fest. Would love to have you be at this one!

maryjanewParticipantI’m working on the Skye Boat Song. I’ve been in love with this song for a few years now so I’ve been wanting to learn the chord melody. It is more difficult than it seems at first glance. 😬🤓
very nice work on the One Finger Etude, @Malku2603 and @heike_uke!-

maryjanewParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard -that was great! Thanks for “breaking out” and singing and doing the piano solo part. I didn’t have enough time to attempt singing. Sorry, I’m not one for many words but I do read most of the comments going back and forth. I mostly try to send my encouragement via “brain waves” and good thoughts, but I don’t think anyone is hearing them!😜 Great job everyone on all hard work on your song entries!🤙🏼🫶🏼 👏👏

Thanks for the lesson!

maryjanewParticipantI took on Spanish Romance taught by Steven. I used my front camera on my iPhone and forgot that the image is mirrored! No, I’m NOT a lefty 😜. I am using a Hollyland Lark A1 wireless mic. I am not proficient with it yet- I don’t know how to work the equalizer in the app. I am using a Low G Uke and I did NOT make any adjustments in the arrangement.
This is my THIRD time in 6 years, (I think) trying to learn this piece!
I think I am picking it up way faster than the last 2 times but I still
have a lot of work to do on it. It has really “stretched” me in more ways than one!
My fingers are very sore!!😜 I do LOVE this piece of music, though!
I am a lot closer to having it memorized and being able to play it for a “safe” open mic
without the paper… almost!

I chose one of my favorite Christmas Carols- Away in a Manger.
I loved this arrangement, so simple and beautiful, yet NOT without challenges!
My fingers do whatever they want even when I have the piece memorized!!
I used my brand new Hollyland Lark A1 wireless mic for the first time. I put one mic on my sweater and the other on my Uke. I think it sounded pretty good but probably only needed to use one.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah! enjoy

I am barely making it in time with this entry! All through October and the first half of November, I have been studying for and attending a certification class for my profession and I didn’t get an entry in for October. I have only had a handful of days to work on the easiest song from November’s challenge. So here is a very rough version of “Morning Dew” Etude # 25.
Looking forward to Holiday songs in December! I think I have mine picked out already!😜
Happy Holidays all!🥰🌟-

maryjanewParticipantI am working on “Don’t Worry” by Bob Marley.
I will try to get the riff in and sing.Ex= playing with a metronome so I don’t speed up and also for the timing of the singing. I’m also trying to get that reggae beat on 2 & 4.
App= practicing the song for campfire 🔥 sing along at our mountain camping trip with a group this week. Playing/jammin’ helps and is so much.
I have been referencing different online ukulele teacher’s versions and going to go with one that teaches Bob’s original key (I think) of A. The riff is harder though. This version is taught by Stu Fuchs of ukulele zen (can I say that??)-

I have been following your guys’s conversation over the Hollyland A1 microphone. It sounds like a really cool little piece of equipment! I’ve been looking at it at their website and on Amazon and I am considering buying the one that has two microphones with the lightning for the iPhone and the USB-C. It seems like it would be very useful to reCord when you’re out and about and I could even use it with my grandkids because they love to make little movies on the iPad. Can you have 2 mics paired to 1 receiver? -MJJuly 1, 2025 at 12:19 am in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74379
