maryjanewParticipantI chose to go back to basics with some beginner lessons. I loved playing this Waltz piece. I needed to finger discipline but I actually felt musical when i was playing it! Thanks for the lesson Andrew 🥰
I was practicing and recording while babysitting my youngest grandchild on Friday afternoon. The older ones were at school. He was so cute listening to me try to make music!😜 There are a few “hiccups” in my performance, but i decided to make this one my final video so I could play with him. I added a bonus video of us dinking around on the piano afterwards.

maryjanewParticipant@Andrew – following the advice you gave to another student, Also had the tab viewer on Synthetic with the metronome clicking in my ear. It helped me so much with the timing at 100 bpm. I will continue to use it like that to see if I can get “Waltz in C #2” faster and faster. 😜
I’ve been trying to watch everyone’s videos and they are great! I’m just not a big chatty person, in typing comments, anyway! Last Fall, after seeing some of you with the Lark wireless mics, I bought a HollyLand Lark A2 and it has great sound.

Here is my lesson choice. Back to basics.
ML 007
Two videos on top of each other but no time to show both or get the sound totally aligned.

maryjanewParticipant@sarahd that was awesome! Very clear and concise! Great job for just starting it, especially being sick. I hope you feel better soon 🤗

maryjanewParticipant– @Andrew – thank you so much! I’m glad there was proof that I got it in with 2 minutes to spare! If I was not laughing at myself so hard, I would have been crying 😭!
I really was working on the tune on and off all month but I was also distracted. I want to work on it more and maybe do the duet thing you mentioned in the part 2 lesson.– @sarahd -thank you for the kind words Sara. I’ve been a hot mess all month and been working too much! And when I’m in a hurry, stuff hits the fan! 😝 I died up the the video in iMovie so I could find parts to delete. I restarted sections because of mistakes but apparently forgot to “select” both sections of the video to return to normal time. I got hilarious that my normal time was pretty slow because I wasn’t smooth yet, but the fast time was pretty much what the song should be played at lol!

as you listen to this video, my problem still exists! as I was trying listen to my video, I sped it up to get thru it faster. I was pretty sure I changed the speed back before loading it on You tube! that’s when I tried to change the speed and reload at 11;59 BUT IT DISAPEARED then I tried to reload again but it is still Mighty Mouse speed! sorry! Kinda funny I guess 🙄
I just watched the whole thing and I guess I only slowed down the second half of the video 😩May 29, 2026 at 11:53 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2026 Member Challenge – WIN $2,095 Kanile’a Ukulele #82345

I just tried to upload my video and it just disappeared! I don’t want to write everything I just wrote!😩
I chose A Duet From The Heart
Love love love the tune, Andrew! Thanks for writing it! Thank you Steven for the lesson!
I only got to 75% with the song. I had about 23 takes and finally the last one was the best.
I plugged the backing track and my Uke into my mini Blackstar amp and just recorded on my iPhone.April 30, 2026 at 10:38 pm in reply to: Participate in the April 2026 Member Challenge – WIN $2,095 Kanile’a Ukulele #81149
maryjanewParticipant@otzepeng -I thought about using that method for the bar D but didn’t. Maybe I’ll try that again. With my small hands, I think I kept muting the A string with the Bar Bm7.

Here is my song choice for the month, The Skye Boat Song. The trickiest part of this song for me was the Bar D chord! I was starting to get it and untried on different uses to see which one played better. Now here are my excuses! my whole extended family got a nasty stomach virus and I was the last one to get it.(thought I’d dodged the bullet!!) I’ve been down fora couple days and I am still a little shaky. I have touched an Uke since Monday and I just gave a shot at it today took a few takes and just went with the last one. the arthritis in my left thumb is aggravated and that has limited me as well. ok excuses done, here is my version for now. This is definitely one I want to keep playing

maryjanewParticipantI’ve never been able chat live. I’m testing now. I love you festivals. The one I’ve gone to the most is Reno Uke fest. Would love to have you be at this one!

maryjanewParticipantI’m working on the Skye Boat Song. I’ve been in love with this song for a few years now so I’ve been wanting to learn the chord melody. It is more difficult than it seems at first glance. 😬🤓
very nice work on the One Finger Etude, @Malku2603 and @heike_uke!-

maryjanewParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard -that was great! Thanks for “breaking out” and singing and doing the piano solo part. I didn’t have enough time to attempt singing. Sorry, I’m not one for many words but I do read most of the comments going back and forth. I mostly try to send my encouragement via “brain waves” and good thoughts, but I don’t think anyone is hearing them!😜 Great job everyone on all hard work on your song entries!🤙🏼🫶🏼 👏👏

maryjanewParticipantugh! missed by a few minutes! I’ve been working on this for about 2 weeks. It’s not done yet
Thanks for the lesson!

maryjanewParticipantI took on Spanish Romance taught by Steven. I used my front camera on my iPhone and forgot that the image is mirrored! No, I’m NOT a lefty 😜. I am using a Hollyland Lark A1 wireless mic. I am not proficient with it yet- I don’t know how to work the equalizer in the app. I am using a Low G Uke and I did NOT make any adjustments in the arrangement.
This is my THIRD time in 6 years, (I think) trying to learn this piece!
I think I am picking it up way faster than the last 2 times but I still
have a lot of work to do on it. It has really “stretched” me in more ways than one!
My fingers are very sore!!😜 I do LOVE this piece of music, though!
I am a lot closer to having it memorized and being able to play it for a “safe” open mic
without the paper… almost!
