maryjanewParticipant@jinajupiter I don’t have a Mac computer but I have an iPhone and an iPad with iMovie. Do you think it’s possible to get it close to this with an iPad??? I wasn’t really following the part of his tutorial where he was saving each audio file….

Seriously, my entry is HORRIBLE! I need much more time on this song, although I am enjoying it.
I love the swing beat. I thought I was doing ok learning the different parts but when it came to putting it all together, YUCK! The time pressure to record today by the deadline is also nerve-wracking!
Sorry, you don’t have to listen to this entry! LOL

maryjanewParticipant@andrew -Thanks for the feedback and tips for helping me. I have a very limited range with my pinky and it is NOT independent from the ring finger! But believe it or not, it is better than it used to be so I will keep working on it.
And I noticed the bending of the strings when I watched myself back! crazy. I don’t know why my fingers get so jittery under pressure! I will do the exercises for both of those issues.June 1, 2020 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2020 Member Challenge – LAST CHANCE TO WIN Kanile’a! #38256
maryjanewParticipantAll awesome songs but most are above my paygrade! lol, I will probably do “people Are Strange” but I also LOVE “Stairway to Heaven”. I started to learn a ukulele version of Stairway last year from Cynthia Lin which she did in 3 parts, but I never completed parts 2 & 3.

maryjanewParticipantHey Johnny,
the easiest thing to do without buying another Uke is to go buy a Low G STRING for your existing ukulele!
That is what I did when I only had one instrument. Now I have 3 low G and 1 high G ukuleles.
I’m looking to sell a Kala Tenor with a low G…. *hint* LOL

maryjanewParticipant@emiliano I posted at the 11th hour! But it was only the 8th hour on the west coast! I’m on page 21. I did Out In The North. I have a nicer Uke but I’m more of a beginner player

maryjanewParticipant@emiliano WoW! Very nice. I wonder how great that would sound on a premium grade Ukulele?
I have really enjoyed listening to evrybody’s submissions— but I’m not great at taking the time to make comments!
Too busy practicing my song because I suck! LOLMay 31, 2020 at 11:23 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2020 Member Challenge – WIN a Kanile’a Tenor Ukulele! #38229

Down to the wire! But on time!
Here is my “work in progress” for “Out In The North”.
Thanks Tobias for this beautiful song. It has been fun to learn but I haven’t quite
Learned it all! IT is very challenging! I was working on memorizing the piece, but as you will hear, I have not accomplished that yet. I want to continue to master this song.
My fingers got a bit nervous and lost a few times.
But I kept plugging away slowly because there is no more time!
I will keep working on this one.Oh yeah, I wanted to say I was trying to get the hammer on and pull offs. The tip of my index finger is so sore!

maryjanewParticipantI’ve been working on memorizing my song and will record today. 😱🎼
maryjanewParticipantI have a little nail on my thumb but I’m getting more of a harmonic type sound on the up-stroke -ugh
maryjanewParticipantI can see and hear you in live video but the chat feature is not visible!!
maryjanewParticipantIn my profession – Physical Therapy and Massage therapy- I cannot grow my nails long. I have grown “tiny” nails on right hand, the longest I can have without getting in the way of my work. I have occasionally tried a thumb pick but it is too “aggressive” for my taste. Any other tips for people like me?
I am still a beginner (intermediate)
Thanks,
– Mary Jane-

Hey Andrew and staff,
I need help for playing in time to a backing track and for memorizing.
Sometimes my fingers do their own thing and don’t listen to my brain!! ;-pAlso, I’m torn between picking which piece I should tackle for the May challenge.
I love the original “In the North” But “Malaguena” is more melodically familiar, though I have never learned it. “Ain’t No Sunshine…” is so emotionally driven, love that song. I would NOT try and sing that one.
I guess this is over 10 years old but have you seen this guy do Ain”t No Sunshine?? (Mind Blown)

maryjanewParticipantHey Andrew,
do you only give feedback for the entries that were on time? What about late entries? I’m learning…
