I rarely play my baritone. I enjoyed learning to play this piece.

planetfinkParticipantThanks @andrew Getting the strumming fast enough was a struggle. I could play the rest of the piece up to speed but when I tried to record the strumming fell apart. So I slowed the whole thing down to keep everything in rhythm.

I recorded a version of this six years ago. It was nice to revisit it. I played it better this time and relearned it way faster than learning it the first time. It’s nice to see evidence of progress.

planetfinkParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard Thanks. I really worked hard to get the emotional feel. Billie Eilish sings the song with a breathy voice and I tried to get a little of that tone. I love Matt’s arrangement.

I attempted to get a “perfect” recording of this because the arrangement is so beautiful I felt it deserved it. Then my daughter reminded me the whole point of the song is that you don’t have to be perfect.
planetfinkParticipantThis isn’t the 4/4 waltz but I wanted some place to post this. I submitted my May entry early this month so I started working on Where is My Mind. A beautiful piece but it took a frustrating amount of time to get it together. This recording has problems (including one time I almost lost hold of my ukulele) but I wanted to put a record of the work I did somewhere.

planetfinkParticipantThanks, Andrew. I love when I get a chance to play that ukulele. It was a gift from my daughter. She commissioned it and told the artist I was an actual musician and it had to be playable. Most of the artist’s ukes are just bought to be hung on walls for decoration.

planetfinkParticipantI am a premium member. I am working on the 4/4 Waltz from last month and decided to play it on my cigar box ukulele because of the music box sound. Then I started to play Dream a Little Dream also because of the old fashioned sound.

planetfinkParticipant@deadbuggy Thanks Sara. Your performance was beautiful. I agree with you. The pieces this month are great. I want to learn all of them.

planetfinkParticipantThanks Andrew. It was a lot of fun and I got to use the Overdrive button on my amp for the first (and maybe last) time.

This is my “Grandma” version of Punk-182 😄. I’m working on Daft Funk. Getting the timing has been a challenge. But very fun to work on.March 22, 2024 at 12:45 pm in reply to: Participate in the March 2024 Member Challenge: Irish Songs! #60972
planetfinkParticipantHere’s my attempt at St Anne’s Reel. It’s a bit rough and not up to speed but I count it a victory. When I went through the Triplet course and got to this piece my thought was “Yeah, this is never going to happen.” So I’m glad I gave it another try and got this far with it.

planetfinkParticipantThis was my choice for the February challenge. Fly Me to the Moon. I kept it slow. I love the Diana Krall version.

planetfinkParticipantBeautiful performance, Lyndall. I don’t usually sing the English lyrics either. Not really fond of them, but they worked in the arrangement. Chag Sameach.

planetfinkParticipantThis is not an entry. But I thought I would learn this one before Hanukkah was over. I played it on baritone because it was too high for my voice and this was the easiest way to change key without having to rewrite the whole arrangement.
