robinboydParticipantWow, those are good questions. I’ll try to answer them in order.
1/2) Well, the extra strings are tuned A and D, with the top four strings the same as a low G uke. There is no reason why you couldn’t just ignore the bottom strings and play uke songs on it. Otherwise, even though it is in a different key to a guitar, the strings are the same relative to each other, so you can just play guitar stuff on it if you don’t mind it being in a different key. In the case of the vid, I took a guitar tab but kept it in the original key so I had to move it about to different strings, etc. That took a bit of work. I think this was the original. https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/rammstein/seemann_chords_1974365
3/4) Yes, they are closer together, and yes, that messes me up heaps!
robinboydParticipantI’ve already got one vid. Just posted it. Enjoy!
robinboydParticipantTrying to find time to practice Because with Tiffany. I have the ukulele part down as well as my part of the harmony but we haven’t been able to put the harmonies together yet.
Learning Jenny of Oldstones (not RC101) on the guitarlele. I have been meaning to try a few more things with the guitarlele and this is a great opportunity. It’s really hard trying to play with 2 extra strings, but Matt’s 2 recent live lessons have helped.
Started fiddling with Better Together. I like this song.
I really want to try Zelda’s Lullaby at some point, but I haven’t got around to it yet.
Trying to keep Moon memorised and playable. I think I’m managing it. I’m really proud of what I managed with that one and I don’t want to lose it.

robinboydParticipantHi Ricky. Tiffany and I have sung along with it, and you are correct. “and if you say the word” starts at bar 30.
robinboydParticipantUpdate: I think I have a handle on the first bit. I haven’t attempted the change to 4/4 yet, though.
robinboydParticipantIf it helps, so did Katie 🙂
To answer Ricky’s question, further research has revealed that it was done in 3 tracks with all three singers singing into the same microphone, so 9 voices.

robinboydParticipant@lyndall – when I say taking notes, I’m not taking notes because you are necessarily correct, but because you sounded different to what I was doing. I then looked it up and found that there are instances where I was right to begin with, and instances where you were right. Anyway, it was a useful exercise 🙂
robinboydParticipantI could be wrong, though. Now I’m hearing it in 6/8. I think I’m going crazy!

robinboydParticipantI love how you got the “aaaaah” bit at the end. I took notes on your timing and realised I had been messing up part of it. Thanks.
robinboydParticipantHey @suddardnotstuddard – Are you practicing the uke tabs or the guitar tabs? They have different time signatures, and I suspect the uke tabs are correct….
robinboydParticipantI admit that I signed up to the first site so that I could get the guitar tabs and practice them on my guitarlele. It’s a bit above my level, but I’m having fun trying. I’m a bit confused by the time signature though. In his arrangement, the verses are in 6/8 and the chorus is in 4/4. His timing is so all over the place that I can’t count along with him anyway, but just humming the piece to myself, I’m pretty convinced that the whole thing should be in 4/4, just like the uke tab that you posted. This is doing my head in!
robinboydParticipantI was wondering who Zil was. Hi Lisa!
robinboydParticipantThanks again 🙂

robinboydParticipantI actually didn’t include the rests when I recorded, but if I did, I would have done it with a left hand pinky mute. Your pinky should be free on your fretting hand. Just lay it lightly over the strings after playing the chords.

robinboydParticipantIn the video, Katie says she releases her ring finger from the G string to fret the A string with her middle finger. That might help. I can attest to the fact that it is possible to play without releasing the ring finger (I have been practicing because the next chord has the ring finger in the same position), but it is really difficult for the reasons you mentioned.
