samash07ParticipantI joined in December 2018.
I had no idea about the existence of a Ukulele until I stumbled upon a video of Andrew’s Zelda’s Lullaby performance on YouTube, believe it was November 2018 at the time. I’m not quite sure “how” or “why” that happened. I’m just an avid Legend of Zelda fan so it probably dropped into my YouTube recommendations randomly.
I watched it on repeat quite afew times and decided to buy this peculiar little instrument, I’ve always had an interest in learning the Guitar but it just felt too big to me. Seeing Andrew play the Ukulele made me an instant fan.
I stopped playing in January 2019 and re-joined the website in January this year.

samash07ParticipantThanks for the tips Andrew, my hand just isn’t fast enough to move quickly along the fretboard, maybe with time I’ll get there one day.
Yeah I think I should try learning in sections as I normally just go for the whole thing when I start learning a new tune, I’ll definitely do that from next month!
I’ll check out Bar 14 right now.
Edit: Just heard your performance again and then compared mine, Bar 14 is definitely way off.

samash07ParticipantHere’s my take on Wonder, had plenty of slip ups. I still gotta work on finger placements which misalign the strings.
The pressure was too much since this is Andrew’s piece and I didn’t want to disappoint him! Even though I most likely still did, lol. Forgive me Andrew! xD

samash07ParticipantI’m not sure what all the reharmonization means, but it sounds great.

samash07ParticipantGood luck Robin and Lisa! Can’t wait to see what you guys have cooked up for the challenge.
You know, just 3-4 days ago I was thinking about learning Wonder since it sounds so awesome and now it’s part of the monthly challenge! Amazing.

samash07ParticipantOh alright! I was just confused as the strings keep getting off tune every few minutes, I thought I had them incorrectly tuned. Thanks for the replies Kanae and Andrew 😊 back to learning new songs then, sadly I missed out on this month’s challenge as it was so hectic getting the new strings locally and online orders are far worse in shipping.
Yeah I feared it might break if I tightened it further, those are good points to know for the future, thanks again Kanae.

samash07ParticipantThanks for the feedback Andrew! I didn’t even notice the pulling down part when I recorded this, I’ll make sure to work on that and the timing.
This tune was very challenging and fun to learn.

samash07ParticipantHere’s my attempt at Yankee Doodle, haven’t been playing regularly for the last few months so I’m kinda rusty and slipped up in my tempo afew times. Those tapped harmonics are so difficult! I just substituted for a normal one.

samash07ParticipantI’ve learned Yankee Doodle but that last tapped Harmonics is sooooo difficult, I just can’t seem to nail it even after doing the course. Natural & Artificial I can do fine.
samash07ParticipantThanks for the tips guys, I was actually able to return to my form by continously playing the tune I cherish the most on this site – Zelda’s lullaby. As I’ve known it since I started playing.
Sadly, it’s too late to attempt the May challenge so I’ll focus on more practice.

samash07ParticipantAmazing entries so far! Sadly I’ve been super busy for the last couple of weeks, which is why I missed the April deadline too (it was gonna be a hat trick of entries for me, oh well).
Will definitely work on some of these by 3rd week of May or so when I have much more time available.
