sir_anzalotMemberI know this already was a while ago but for everyone who voted for shallow and might not be aware: Steven has a great arrangement of it on his own Channel.
It doesn’t have a lesson but he did put a download Link to the Tab in the video description. At least I had lots of fun learning that one last year 🙂

sir_anzalotMemberThank you @Stephen your praise means a lot! =)
I think my biggest takeaway from learning this is to never hastily underestimate a piece again even though it might sound very approachable – especially if I have other time constraints to factor in at the timeApril 30, 2022 at 5:24 am in reply to: Participate in the April 2022 Member Challenge – WIN $6,000 Kanile’a Ukulele #51728
sir_anzalotMemberVery nice @lhamilton 🙂
I feel what you said about memorizing the piece. Everyone who put him / herself through this has my respect regardless of how the recording turned out in the end. I tried getting a perfect take for three hours yesterday but after a certain point it was useless to continue and I ended up using one I had after like 20 minutes 😀April 29, 2022 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Participate in the April 2022 Member Challenge – WIN $6,000 Kanile’a Ukulele #51711

I’ve not posted stuff in ages but I’m happy this challenge finally got me out of my recording slump! =)
I picked Stevens wonderful take on Bachs Prelude in C for this challenge and man, did I underestimate this piece! Doing this was quite the grind, I have never had to memorize this many chord changes in an arrangement in just two weeks. Even though there are some hickups I’d say it went somewhat well.Have fun with the challenge everyone! 🙂
sir_anzalotMemberNow that the second Witcher season is out I’d like to request this ones iteration of a certified Jaskier Banger ‘Burn Butcher Burn’
The Buildup is so damn hot and it just seems to be the perfect fit for some ghost note strumming
sir_anzalotMemberThe Pedal thing @gi_gi_ mentioned sounds very cool, I’ve also just started to assemble some pedals and got a looper and an overdrive just to experiment with some stuff und get better at jamming 🙂
Though I guess getting into pedals here could prove kind of difficult as pedalboards often turn out quite Individual and there is no real one way to go. Some general Input regarding concepts would be more than welcome though.
Happy holidays to everyone!
sir_anzalotMemberThis was truly fun, thank you @misterbones 🤣
I am in a love / hate relationship with this song myself. Been hacking away at Corey Fujimotos Canon in D Arrangement for months now and though I am finally getting close to pull it off, I have to admit that playing through all these hella difficult passages hundreds of times did not leave the joy, which I felt before upon hearing the piece, untouched
sir_anzalotMemberVery cool, I like what you did here! Whenever I write something I only lay a foundation, but rarely do my songs reach this level of… let’s call it “storytelling” – Bravo! I can only second what rickeymike has already said. If I may offer some constructive criticism: Invest some of your polishing time into the transition between the strumming part and the following picking phrase. This is of course totally subjective, but that was the only part that felt a bit unfinished to me. Keep up your good work man, you got talent! 🙂
sir_anzalotMemberHi Andrew! Sorry, I thought I had long answered you :O
Thanks for implementing the advanced search, it’s far easier to find stuff now!
I was a bit surprised to see that if you only search in topics it also includes the first post and not just the thread title but it seems to be a good thing to cover more ground. At least I found a good amount of useful posts with my test searches this way. Thanks for listening to your community! 🙂
sir_anzalotMemberHey Andrew, thanks for implementing the advanced search!

Finally came around to record Carol of the Bells. Happy Holidays and good luck to everyone! 🙂
sir_anzalotMemberI’ve been here for roughly 8 months now and have very much enjoyed my time 🙂
The array of lessons to be learned here and the teachers who do them are absolutely awesome so cheers to all of you guys! What I really loved this year was the triplet style content. I’d love to dig even deeper into that.
I already made some suggestions regarding the forum which could use a little fine tuning a while ago but that might be a secondary issue. What I personally would be interested in (also already posted about that) would be a somehwat comprehensive beginners course revolving around percussive style, to add to strumming and fingerpicking alike. I don’t know if that’s out of reach here or even interests anyone except me but just to add my 2 cents 😉
sir_anzalotMemberThank you @Andrew but that wasn’t really the breakdown I was hoping for. I think I might have thrown the wrong video out there with the Gotye song because he indeed does that whole drum beat thing in that one, rather than this index chuck alone. He does that flicking thing in most of his uke videos here and there, but the Hotel California Cover is by far the one where he utilizes it the most for the beat during picking.
What I don’t get is how he does it. From what I understand, a chuck means muting the strings, even if ever so shortly. But to me it sounds like at least some of the notes keep ringing on through it. Or does he just start picking so fast again after unmuting that it gives of the impression? I’d really like to learn that because it seems like a good “building block” technique to me, instead of going for the whole drumset at once.
@lisadmh I know and I enjoy listening to them a lot – learning the techniques behind them is a whole other thing though 😉
sir_anzalotMemberOh, I did not realize that @Andrew !
I’ll look around a bit if I can find something similar. One question though: Are all of his Videos blocked in the US? :O Or is it just about the eagles track as Robin indicated?EDIT:
Was easier to find another example of his than I thought. He uses the same technique from 0:15 onward in this one. Just to clarify: He uses more percussion elements this time around but I am still mostly interested in incorporating that flicking motion. It was a bit cleaner to identify in the other one but it still works I think.Hope it’ll work this time.
