    Hi Matt!

That is quite the relief. If it can be done with dedication and practice I’ll get there for sure 🙂

Practice alone might have brought me there further down the road but I wanted to avoid cementing a bad habit while leanrning something new rhythm wise. Thanks for the valuable tip and the neat Zen Wisdom bit – I might quote you on that 😉

    Cheers,
    Andy

Thank you for uploading your Haunted Uke solo version @lisadmh 🙂
I am not overly enthusiastic to learn songs which kinda only work over a backing track so I went ahead and saved your attachment to my backlog for when I crave to learn a spooky song.
    Cheers to you!

    Hey everyone! 🙂

I actually wanted to post this tuesday already but got hit with a serious case of the sniffles so no dice trying to record. Here is my performance of Dream State. Enjoy!

I know chances are slim considering the flood of great ideas that is present in this topic but I have two new Requests

It’s my Life by Bon Jovi and Psycho Killer by Talking Heads

We’re called RockClass after all 😉

    Hey Robin

Thank you! I dreaded that would be the answer. The em Chord behind the Barre is uncomfortable enough as it is, not even accounting for the little melody licks in the chorus, but that high up the neck it becomes next to impossible – especially on a concert without cutaway. The only one I have which would have that kind of space is also strung low G. On top of that, I feel that playing it this high up the register might result in a loss of a lot of ‘body’ of the song. While doable on the guitar with additional deeper strings, this is a problematic thing on the uke.

After your reply, I checked Guus’ Video again and noticed that he made a lot of effect happen with artificial harmonics. Though I am not perfect with these I do quite okay around them and think I might be able to work in at least a small bit of higher variation in the chorus through these. Not quite the same extend of cool but it just might work as a drama amplifier, if placed right.

Thanks again for checking Robin. If anyone else has additional ideas I’m all ears 🙂

Hm. Bummer. But… when you say it is maintained by the WordPress people, I suppose that means you don’t have access to the backend? Because it just so happens that you have a trained IT professionial here and there are Plugins to make things like advanced search a thing in WordPress 🙂

As I already learned and showcased Toss a Coin to your witcher when I First started out here at RC, I think I might go for Dream State. Haunted Uke Sounds great too, but I’m much more interested in Solo pieces.

Thanks for your Feedback @Andrew 🙂
I’m aware of the slide mishaps but it can’t be helped, not really used to using my pinky for these yet and it get’s in the way of pulling them of right consistently. Currently working on left Hand pinky control in other pieces too 😉

This has also been on my ‘gotta learn this’ list for some time now. Though kind of sad, it is just hauntingly beautiful! 🙂
Nice job recording it robin, can’t have been easy.

@schaap123 very nice entry of St. Anne’s Reel, good job!
Regarding the Audio Volume: it helps if you record Audio and Video seperately from each other, preferably with a dedicated mic, and put it together afterwards. If if you don’t have one, a second phone placed closer to the Uke just to record the audio can begin to do the trick 🙂
The overall Sound quality still won’t be too great but at least that’s how I worked it out for my first recordings.

Getting into it in the beginning was quite the challenge, but after tackling the initial difficulties in the right hand the piece actually got really fun!

Also, could we do some xmas themed song(s) in the next stages? I’d love to be able to play something for the holidays. Stay safe everyone 🙂

    Hello there!

Yes, I do have it, but not the EQ version. I think it really is a steal (bought it for 80 I think) and the thought of getting it a second time but with the built in EQ did already cross my mind 😉

Aside from what one may think of its thin body it has great volume and tone and even the prestrung Enya Strings are worth their salt. I did have to change them regardless because I use it as my low G Setup. There are two things I’d say are worth taking into consideration before buying though.

The first being that even though it is a concert size, the frets are relatively wide (especially up to the 7th) as a result of the whole neck being able to be a tad longer due tue the cut away. Not a problem but it does make some things ‘stretchier’ to play on the lower half of the neck (one part of Out in the North was quite challenging for me because of that).

The second thing is the volume when you go up the neck, as in it doing a considerable drop down if you go there (don’t worry too much, I’m talking about everything past around fret 12/14). This actually was an issue, for me at least, when I played People are Strange in June. Even though I had some better runs in practice I was not really happy with how the recording turned out on the high variation of the Verse. I had to really attack the strings on that part to try to make up for the loss in Volume which made it less clean all in all. I know that it is a normal thing as the strings don’t vibrate as much anymore that high, but my guess is that the slim body build is not doing us any favors here in terms of resonance.

Reading this may sound harsh but I am very happy with the Nova overall and don’t regret the purchase on bit. Just want you to be able to make an informed decision 🙂 Maybe with the built in EQ the Volume thing up the neck (should you play there a lot) might not be as much of an issue.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I’d be happy to help you out.

That’s exactly the reason why I posted him here @Zitronen 😉 Also the Tool he uses to create the tabs is Guitar Pro.
