    @the_bumble_bard

    I have a:

    – Mahalo Rainbow 🌈 which mainly gets used to turn my air conditioning on and off 😂😂

    – Kala KA-15 Soprano

    – Kala KA-15 Concert

    – Cordoba 24 TCE Tenor

    – Flight Carabao Tenor

    – Taylor Big Baby Guitar

I need a Guitarlele to bridge the gap between the Flight & Taylor I’ll get my requests into Santa 🎅🏻

@robinboyd very nice! I do fancy a guitarlele or a six string baratone (not sure if they are the same thing).. I even saw a Romero creations guitarlele with steel strings and guitar tuning which looked pretty cool.

Not sure the wife will be happy though as I’ve brought to much this year already..

True story: My daughter had a friend over and her mother came to pick her up. As she wondered in she sees my Uke and says ‘Oh wow who plays’… she then follows with ‘Ah I didn’t realise it was a kids guitar’.

Some people are not going to get it… More Ukes for us 😎😎😎

Sooo.. talking about MIDI programs I purchased a month ago a Akai MPK keyboard. It’s basically let’s you connect to a DAW (where you record/edit music) and you can create midi tracks with it 🙂

I have not had a chance to play with it but it’s on my list of things to explore in 2023 (by the time I get around to it haha)

With the LEKATO Loop pedal it was really easy to copy the backing tracks to the looper.. You literally connect it to your computer with a USB cable and drag them across.

The Boss RC5 was a nightmare to copy them across. They have to be 44.1 khz and 32 something else & then have the meta data removed… honestly I didn’t understand what any of it meant I just followed a forum post and then dragged them over. Once in though it’s great.

Honestly, if it’s just for practise I often just go onto YouTube find a backing track and then play it off YouTube with headphones in and then play away..

If you want to get started playing with backing tracks. I would recommend this one:

And you can learn this scale which sounds great with it..

    https://ukulelescales.com/A-minor-pentatonic

Start off learning position 2 and play that with the backing track and you will be off to the races in no time 😎

I would also recommend the theory course on here. It’s a great curriculum.. things I didn’t understand or wanted more information in you can YouTube for more detail but it really covers a lot and helps you understand how it all works.

Send us a video of you jamming away to it 🙂

@the_bumble_bard That’s very kind, I do find music is a great place to lose yourself. I’ve seen you playing and you’re awesome although I’d be interested to know how much fuel a Uke can burn for just in case there is a Zombie Apocalypse…

    @gi_gi_
that’s such a lovely thing to say I really appreciate it 😍 I’ll check out the open mic 👀

I’ve just added lots of backing tracks onto my looper.. so now I just click the looper on choose a song and then jam away with a full band.. Some Neo Soul to glide into the weekend 🎺🎺🎺

Sooo. Just wanted to update this thread.

I’ve been upgrading slowly my setup and splashed out on New Uke/Misi Pickup & LR Baggs DI Box. The sound quality is off the scale.

I didn’t plan on changing my LEKATO looper as it is really functional BUT..

    1. When I plugged it in with the DI box it started to create hummmmmmmm.

    2. The sound without the loop pedal was crystal clear as if I had new ears that could perceive music in different frequencies.. with the loop pedal connected the sound became muted/Lofi if I’m being generous.

So after a bit of research I purchased a Boss RC 5. Plugged it in today & OMG.

The sound is crystal clear and does not seem to suppress any of the sound from the DI. Most importantly there is no humming.

There are lots of additional features on the RC5 that are not on the LEKATO as you would expect given the price difference. But additional features aside I’m guessing the limitation of the pedal is only realised when refining your sound.

P.s I didn’t buy the Ditto x4 in the end due to all the problems people are reporting online.

First of all that’s really awesome! Did you say that you made up the melody?

I don’t have any time to play this week but if you want to share the chord progression and how you play it I’ll add to it with a loop and solo 🙂

p.s You should definitely sing. I have the worlds worst voice and make a point of singing haha

I used to follow a guy on YouTube and what he did once a month was have like an open mic on zoom for members. It was a great place to meet up (virtually) and the idea was that each person played something (or just listened). It wasn’t really a showcase of playing more of people just playing something they had learnt.

I know on here we have the monthly competition where everyone shares their entry but a live hang out/open mic would be cool as well 🙂

Setup is everything IMHO. Without a correct setup you’re not getting the most out of the instrument. If you buy from a dedicated Uke shop the setup is free. I purchased from Southern Ukulele Store in the UK and they really fine tuned the playability in the setup.

In the US you have Mims Ukes and she is well known for her awesome setups if you buy from her 😎

Possibly I don’t even understand myself in regards to the tuning haha

I think where I got confused in the beginning of my Uke journey. Is that the tuning of the Uke is in C.. which confused me as I could then not work out how you played songs in another key without changing the tuning but to summarise..

    1. The tuning of the Uke standard tuning is C. However this really only means that if you play what we know to be a C chord it’s a C. It does not mean every song is in C because we can play different chords to change the key of the song regardless of the tuning.

    2. Putting a Capo in the first fret is the same as tuning up half a step. Placing a Capo on the second fret is the same as tuning up a whole step i.e Tuning from G to A.

You can do one or the other or both 🙂 athe only thing I notice is the tension gets really hard when tuning UP to much which I don’t like for finger picking but have a mess around and see what you like.

Most importantly take any advice from me with a pinch of salt as I’m making it all up as I go along haha

Politics 😳 “In a world where you can be anything,be kind 😍” There is the solution.
