Andrew, your tutorial for Evan’s Solos on Beauty and the Beast is really extremely helpful!
As I first heard the song, I loved it. But I thought I would never be able to play that, especially not until end of April. I tried playing it and immediately hit the wall.
But with a combination of Matt’s advice (“not all or nothing – but always something”) and your advice of trying it bar by bar in small steps, I managed to play bar 1 to middle of bar 5 quite ok on my first day of practice and until bar 8 (full first page) on second day of practice. I did by intend not go further to page 2 yet. Especially your advice on how to set the fingers for the double steps and seeing it as “shape one” and “shape 2” was helping me. With doing so memorizing it came from its own.
My experience is meant to encourage others that also think they will never be able to do this beautiful arrangement.

    Welcome Ashley! Beautiful RC101 debut.
Most of us will never sing like you for sure – but if you could teach us how to get the best out of the voice that has been given to us, that would be wonderful!
    Best wishes from Andrea

Here comes my interpretation of “Spanish Romance”:

Thank you Steven for that beautiful arrangement and super tutorial.

    Hi Rici,

With Spanish Romance there are several techniques to learn and practice (vibrato, rubato, dynamics) which I guess gave it Level 2.
But the song itself is really very easy to play and Steven gives very useful tips on how to place the fingers. And the melody is so, so beautiful.

For me it is the first time that I memorized a song without even trying to do so and also the first time I can play a song with closed eyes (ok, currently only the A melody).

My uke loves that song and wants to play it on its own 😉

Give it a try, I am quite sure you will enjoy it.

    Best,
    Andrea

    here is my updated version:

I hope to be able to play your super arrangement of “I See Fire” one day.

(in case this message should pop up several times, sorry in advance, but I just got error messages when hitting submit and I can’t see my post).

Thank you Andrew & Nathalie for your feedback.
I also find it easier to pick with multi fingers than with the thumb. I am just doing it because Matt suggested that in the tutorial and in slow songs the sound is softer/sweeter with the thumb. But for this fast song I think multi finger approach works better for me.
I will continue practicing and will see where I am ending 🙂
    Happy strumming,
    Andrea

    Hi Andrew/Matt/Nathalie,

I have really fun with the Take5 duet. I was already proud of how quickly I could memorize and play it and that I can do it nearly in time with the backtrack – BUT – I noticed when playing the nice high notes I have always other deep notes popping up in between as the strings stick on my fingers when lifting them off.
Some months ago I had that sometimes in general with other songs and got rid off that problem with practice after watching Nathalie’s video on how to lift the fingers off.
But at the high notes it just does not work for me.

Thank you very much if anyone can help me!!!

    Hi Lucas,
I have restringed my first “cheap” Ukulele as Low G.
That was my original order: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B072JT9WLF/
You can also order it already with Low G: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B083S8GRC9/
It is solid wood Mahogany and has a very warm sound.
Now as I have a much more expensive Enya Ukulele (and I REALLY wanted to win the Oct-Dec Challenge Kanilea Hawaii Ukulele) is still love my Aklot Ukulele.

Here is an example of how the Aklot sounds with Low G:

    I hope that helps,

    Hi Andrew,
I have donated 40 EUR = 49.03 USD to Ukulele Kids Club France – Europe.
    Best,
    Andrea

I have a question to you: In your “My girl” tutorial – Where does the tapping sound come from in your recording – from the pickup Ukulele itself or from your audio mic? When I record with my pickup Ukulele only, I hear exactly NOTHING from my tapping I have practiced so much on all the beats 2 and 4 in the produced audio file.
