Hi, the originally plan was to do a Blue Moon Ukulele & Piano duet. Which I did in fact playing the piano to Stevens Ukulele, which was quite fun. But I will not manage in time anymore to play the ukulele good enough plus record it.

So I hope to at least qualify for the challenge with my “old” recording of Blue Moon on the ukulele.

Hello, here is my submission of “Dream a little Dream of Me”.
I have put a lot of work into learning the song on the piano and adding it as backtrack to the Ukulele. For the Ukulele part I am playing exactly Matt’s arrangement, I am just playing the first beats a little later to have it more of a swing feel inline with the piano. I hope you like it.

Hi Andrew, here is my result for this month’s challenge which I happily accepted:

I hope you enjoy my medley composition as much as I do.

Congrats to all my peer’s great work!!!

This was the task I had set for myself in my first post:

    1) Execution – I want to create a medley / mesh-uo of two songs that have the same chord progression and play it on the piano and on the ukulele and mix it together (obviously I cannot do both same time :-)). I want to do it in an improvisation style without having notes for it.

    2) Application – I will practice and record the piano part first and record it with metronome so that piano and ukulele can be in sync later. Then I will practice to improvise with the ukulele to the piano part. I will need several iterations for it. What sounds better? Just strumming, playing the melody? I need to find out when trying.

    3) Evaluation – Practice each day and make test recordings. Listen to it, improve. Do it again.
    Best,
    Andrea

I have just donated 50 EUR = 50,74 USD to the Ukulele Kids Club.

As I worked on a piano version of “All I Want for Christmas is You” (if you are interested you find it on my Youtube channel), I just did a slow playing from notes version of “I have a little Dreidel” to qualify for the challenge:

Merry Christmas to the uke world,

Thank you for promoting the Ukulele Kids Club again. German folks (others welcome as well of course): I you donate to the Ukulele Kids Club and enter “Germany” in the comment of the payment, children in Dortmund hospital will benefit from your gift. The music therapist regularly gives me feedback how happy the kids are.

Bringing you in a little bit of Christmas mood for tomorrow’s new session:

I learned it without a tutorial last year, so please forgive all my mistakes.

(That’s of course no challenge entry yet – but I promise already now, I won’t be singing…)

    Best wishes,
    Andrea

I need to skip this month’ challenge, but I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for what I have learned so far at Rock Class 101.
Why? I started playing piano again after pausing for several years and having been a classic by notes player in the past, I was now able to transfer my piano playing into free style and by ear/memory playing. Still a beginner there, but making progress and having lots of fun. I thought I have no talent for that type of playing, but I was just missing some basic concepts and really key for me was the circle of five lesson by Matt I listened to many, many month ago and his enthusiasm for music theory. Andrew, would you please pass on my huge thank you to him and to yourself for always encouraging us to play by memory.
I hope I can join the ukulele challenge again in October.
    Best,
    Andrea
