Hi Andrew, here comes my performance of “Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah”.
It is cut together out of my first two recording attempts, sorry for that.
I was happy with my third attempt and ended recording and only realized later that I had forgotten to press play (arrggh).
Sorry my time window for recording possibilities in natural daylight is very narrow with working, kids in quarantine and lockdown just switching from light to hard.

    Stay all healthy!!!

Additionally to the many songs that are already on my favorite list I would love to learn those songs:

Beatles, “I want to hold your hand” (Andrew?)
Frank Sinatra, “My Way” & “Time after Time” (Christopher?)
The Crew Cuts – “Sh Boom Sh Boom” (Christopher?)
Lionel Richie, “Easy like a Sunday morning” (Matt?)
Elvis Presley / Wanda Jackson’s “Let’s have a Party” (Andrew?)
Mariah Carey, “All I want for Christmas is You” (Evan?)

Hey, it’s me again. I thought about suggesting Nathalie as teacher and am just seeing now, that she asked you exactly that questions. I would be totally in for learning from Nathalie, she is my peer role model on RC101.

I Andrew, I think it would be great if you could win Vasko from UkuleleCheats.com for your teacher’s team. I just discovered him some weeks ago as I searched for “All I want for Christmas is You” on Ukulele. He has a great song choice and I love his arrangements, they have a perfect mix between melody and strumming.

Additionally I would find it very helpful if the string changing tutorial would be enhanced by showing how strings are changed on Ukes that have the ending/knots in the inner body of the Ukulele, which all my 3 Ukes do.

    Best,
    Andrea

@Andrew: Thank you so much for the feedback!
I would not have mastered the technical recording stuff as is without your Ultimate Guide to Recording Ukulele.

Your feedback on Ukulele playing was very helpful for me. I thought you would point me to the errors that I am seeing myself and give me tips how to play it. But I know from the tutorial how I should play it. I’m just not mastering it yet all the time (but sometimes) – so I just need to practice that more. It was very helpful that you told me how to simplify the chords in the meantime. Especially the finger position in Bar5 I tried over and over again like Matt does, it was so difficult. I changed to do it as I saw how Nathalie (nthibode) was fingering it. Also not soo easy. So just leaving away the first string will definitely make it easier for the moment.

    Happy playing to all members,

    – AND I WAAAANT TO WIN THIS WOOOOONDERFUL HAWAII UKULELE!!!!

Hi Andrew, here comes my performance of Puff, the Magic Dragon.
I have practiced a lot plus had to learn very much additional tech stuff this month as I have a new Ukulele with pickup plus needed to get familiar with all the tools like Audio interface, Audio software and so on – quite challenging.
My recording is not perfect but I will upload the current status I have so that I can concentrate on playing the Ukulele again instead of the tech stuff.

I agree, not easy to choose which one to take. All sound great.
For Haunted Uke – would it be possible to get the piano notes as well to do a double recording of myself playing the piano and the Uke?
I did not try that yet, so it would be a super cool challenge.

My favorite ukulele artists (among many others) are Evan J. De Silva and
    Ariel McCleary.

    Why?
This young humble man is gifted with outstanding talent PLUS is working hard. His arrangements and performances are awesome! While I know this level is totally out of reach for us normal people watching him keeps me going to practice and practice to get the best out of myself and trying to be a role model for my kids starting to play Ukulele as well.
Before seeing him I did not know what great sound can come out of an Ukulele.

Ariel McCleary for her complete package. She IS just music able to light up my day. She is a singer with such a warm voice, a songwriter and is strumming her Ukulele so naturally. Besides she is funny and lovely. My favorite videos are “Time after Time” (Frank Sinatra) and her not so much know Original “Meant to be alone” where you see what great things comes out when this girl has a broken heart. She recently cancelled her Youtube career to go into marketing – what would I give to change my marketing career against her talent.

My favorite teachers are: Cynthia Lin, Andrew Hardel, Matt Dahlberg

    Hi Nathalie,
after you had been prominently posted in Andrew’s Mail with your Uke Blues performance I discovered your Youtube Channel and while I admire all of your interpretations I especially like your Ain’t no sunshine – you have a very beautiful voice!!!

Would you mind sharing with which gear you are recording your videos?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Ukulele enthusiasts,
I am also sharing my tab notation of my original that I had posted a view days ago.
It is really easy to play and you can just fingerpick quite all notes out of the chords.

I have a question to Andrew: Which software do you use for writing the notes down? And does it have gimmicks like transforming chords into notes or “listening” to what you play and transform it into notes? If you have a very expensive professional tool can you also recommend a cheap or free alternative for hobby players?

    Thank you,
    Andrea

    Hi Andrew,
thank you so much for your video feedback!
See here my second attempt of my first Original in my first attempt of a YouTube Video 😉
The B Melody is now neither my first draft nor your suggestion, it somehow found its own third way in a slightly different direction combining both ideas.

I like my A Melody now, and the B Melody as well. I tried different ways for coming back from B Melody to A Melody. For my ear it sounds somewhere to simple/boring that the B Melody ends now on a C and A Melody starts on a C again. But I did not find another more interesting solution to link it together.

And I have a question how my cord in the B Melody is called, where I play a G shape on thread 4 and 5. I just tried it out and liked it.

Thank you so much for your feedback,
    Andrea

    HiAndrew,

here his my first draft of my first original 😉

I am not happy with the melody of the middle part yet. But perhaps you have already feedback for my chord progression or any other hints, so that I can continue working on it?
    My scheme is 2x A B 2x A 8 beats each
I have not written out the notes yet, the chords are:
    A Melody:
    C E7 F G7
    C E7 F G

    C E7 F G7
    C E7 F G

    B Melody:
    Dm G Em A7
    Dm D7 G G

    A Melody:
    C E7 F G7
    C E7 F G

    C E7 F G7
    C E7 F G->C

Like suggest by you I started with stealing a chord progression from another song – can anybody guess which one?
    Andrea
