becky7777ParticipantWelcome Gideon! I’ve only been playing about 6 months now, but I’ve learned a lot here.
becky7777ParticipantWelcome Schap08!
becky7777ParticipantOmg sprinting, that video is awesome.

becky7777ParticipantMiz-
Can’t wait to hear your banjolele! Washer Woman’s a cool song!
I played half the intro of RitR with the video last night on my low G. I’m committed! It made me really want to try tackling Andrew’s Tu De Que Vas arrangement finally too, which has a similar vibe as the beginning of Rose… I also want to do Etude 17… And get my enormous Bourree project done… And play with the Ableton Live trial, (Yes, I’m whining about Ableton and FL Studio AGAIN. I’m so scared I’m going to love them and not be able to buy one of ’em!) and, and, Lol! I see a pattern here…
Reigning myself in now.
Too many bright shiny objects being tossed around in the yard. I can’t cope.
I suppose we should buckle our seatbelts and make sure the trays are in the upright position and get these songs nailed!
(Or I suppose the fire department should be put on call just in case.) 😉
becky7777ParticipantWelcome!
I have to admit, it faked me out and made me stare at the name for a minute when I saw your post. LOL! I was like “Did I post up there? What’s going on??” 😂
High five for starting ukulele in mid October. I did too lol!

becky7777ParticipantLooks like the very first challenge fell in March, so happy unofficial challenge month anniversary!
I’m totally going to crash and burn on this, but I’ve had “Red Is The Rose” in my favorites for a while. Going to give it a go to check it off my “want to learn” list. Love the arrangement.

becky7777ParticipantBourree. I didn’t edit this with effects in any way. It’s just straight up untouched track.
Ukulele is my first one, a purple $12 Diamond Head uke strung with the soprano Aquilla Low G set. I was also using the metal banjo fingerpicks. Mic- Neewer large diaphragm condenser mic. Audio interface- Behringer UM2. DAW- Recorded in NCH Wavepad. 80 bpm. (It was as close as I could get w/o fractions of beats to the 75%)I did NOT use standard notation to play this. I wanted to learn it before it became known it was part of the reading coarse. (and I did.)
I tried to emphasize beat 3. I messed up right at the last note so I just slid into the right one and called it a day. lol

becky7777ParticipantSpeed doesn’t count Maria!
No worries!!!I’m messing around with production and mixing in my daw software and the bpm fraction threw me off.
Me failing at playing at 130 bpm was a personal goal I set because I’m making something complicated, just not this month.

becky7777ParticipantAndrew-
I have a quick, probably really stupid, question.
Is the 75% bass track in Bourree set at 97.5 bpm or do the % tracks get rounded up or down?
I’m guessing the percentage tracks are made using Ableton Live (because it’s magic) rather than recording 3 times, but I wasn’t sure.
I’m probably over-thinking this. I failed at getting 130 bpm down for the challenge entry so I needed to change gears.
becky7777ParticipantWhat Andrew said, it helps a ton! But in addition, keep working on the song with the obnoxious chord fingerings. Don’t hurt yourself though! I can reach from fret 5 to 12 on a soprano now if its on 2 adjacent strings or i’m chording something in a 3 finger stair step pattern with skipped frets, and just need my pinky to dink around further. (Sorry my theory isn’t to par to tell you in a way that makes more sense.)
I found my thumb position matters more when you’re at your limit too. If I was trying to get a really bad one I had to shift my thumb towards my pinky more and angle my wrist a bit differently.
I am working on Prelude from the cello suites from John King’s ukulele book and I still can’t get those fingerings without playing a couple bars then just stopping. PURE TORTURE for short fingers! I’m supposed to pretty much let each note keep ringing and that song’s like playing ukulele Twister…… Prelude sounds so amazing on uke though I’m determined to play it! I just keep cursing while trying lol.
Good luck though Jake!
February 25, 2019 at 11:31 pm in reply to: Curious how much high frequency I could still hear #25355
becky7777ParticipantPlanetfink- I can’t say I ever want to feel one of these again lol!
Miztaken- That’s odd.. Although if you read the comments under the actual test other people did have frequency skipping issues. If you have any tinnitus it could be your tinnitus was what I call, ‘tuned’ to the missing frequency maybe? It seems to change tone on me at least. There’s more tests like this btw, both for low and high. I can’t do the bass tests until I get good headphones. My tablet and netbook don’t exactly have any bass lol. I wouldn’t stress about results though. This is just for fun/curiosity. 😁
becky7777ParticipantWelcome!
Stumbled over Andrew’s videos and loved his style of teaching too. Plus the fact there’s a bunch of finger style arrangements.
becky7777ParticipantWelcome Kip! ✨💖✨

becky7777ParticipantNice Anne! ✨🎶✨ Almost there!
Planetfink- Great job, and yeah I am having a hard time at 100%
I have this elaborate pointless artsy secondary idea I’m probably just wasting time on for the challenge, but what’s in my head and what I can actually make happen aren’t exactly going to plan for a lot of reasons.
I do wish I had better software now, that could do some extra things, but can’t afford it yet. (Trying to do some of the things manually that I’m thinking of is really hard because I still don’t know what i’m particularly doing to make it happen..) My nephew thinks i’m losing it I think, and my one friend is all excited about the idea and is trying to help me with no-tech solutions because he hates computers.
Sigh. To sum all that up. I agree it’s fun…
