Andrew, after some soul searching I think its gotta be Kemp’s for me this month (although I did just post an IG story of me playing bars 16 to 19 of La Vie 🙂

Absolutely a wonderful idea 🙂 It didn’t come down to that this month but I’m going to keep that in my back pocket!

Aloha Teacher Andrew and RC101 Friends. I’ve already done Sakura, Red is the Rose and Cielito Lindo (all excellent arrangements!) for past challenges. Jasmine Flower is not really calling my name right now which leaves Kemp’s and La Vie. Kemp’s seems a little more fun and the melody is appealing to me. In the past I’ve really enjoyed your other jigs and reels such as: St Anne’s, Morrisson’s and Smash the windows lessons. La Vie, on the other hand, seems like its might be a bit more challenging and has some beautiful chord voicings. I just can’t choose between the two anybody have any thoughts? 🙂

    Aloha Uke Friends,

I have had a very busy month musically. An old friend just roped me into her bluegrass/americana band to play guitar at a bock party this summer (this will be just a temporary thing for me, as her usually guitar player is traveling during the gig so I’m happy to just be a substitute). I also have my own little neighborhood band “the Rainier Beach Allstars” and we’re getting ready for a couple fun little gigs in the coming months. In addition to those two things I’ve been quite obsessed with Hollowknight Silksong (IMO one of the best video games ever created) and I’ve actually been having a great time trying my hand at arranging some of the games iconic music for ukulele. This month I made an arrangement of “Bilewater theme!” If you want to hear it and the others please check out my YouTube shorts 🙂

All that being said I have to keep my perfect attendance record for RC101 monthly challenges and Brahm’s Lullaby was definitely the right choice for me this month. Such a pretty melody and a great Uke arrangement by Andrew and Angelo.

Hi Andrew, I’d like to learn Brahms Lullaby. I’d prefer to skip Mary and Twinkle but I’ll add them if you require it. Is that OK?

Aloha Ukulele Friends. I took on the Spanish Days Lead Part! It is definitely a finger-frenzy and I know I could use a bit more practice but I needed to get something up today as I won’t have another chance this month. I tried my best to sink up my video with RC101’s audio file but that is always super hard for me to get just right. (The pros must have all kinds of tools and secrets for this I never learned 🙂

Evan and Andrew—>Thanks for this great challenge!

Aloha Uke Family. I learned the Tennessee Waltz this much. Thanks Rc101 for another excellent challenge 🤓

Here’s my best take. (I know there’s a couple slight hiccups in the last bit of this performance but otherwise it turned out pretty groovy😅)

Ahoy Ukulele Friends. This month I played Rockclass101’s 3 levels of walking bass blues bass lines on my Bass. It was a good challenge and really made my brain work to rewrite the tab for the basses EADG tuning. Here’s the video:

P.S. I got tickets to see Taimane on Friday here in WA state 🙂 I’m sure it will be an amazing show!

Happy New Year Uke Friends 😀 Execution: my goal this month is to play the “3 levels of walking bass for low g Uke” (a piece I learned a few years ago) on my Ubass. Application: this challenge will involve transposing the piece to work with the bass’s tuning which for me will be good practice reading notation and ear training. Evaluation: after mastering the piece I’ll post a performance here on the forum.

Happy Holidays Ukulele Family! This month I learned Stephen’s excellent UBass Silent Night arrangement. Here’s me playing it with my buddy Ozias:

I just sent $25 to Ukulele Kids Club. Andrew, Thanks for organizing this fundraiser 😀

Aloha Uke Fam’ I went for Nothing Else Matters this month. It was an epic challenge. I reckon I still need another 20 dedicated hours at least to play this arrangement well but it’s a busy month and this is my best offer 🙂 Happy Strumming and Plucking Everyone!

Hi Andrew. I’ve been practicing nothing else matters for a few days now. Today I played along with YouTube video but I have a question. It’s Page 3 measure 27. Evan and the band’s YouTube video goes to another verse right there but measure 28 (the C to Am ) pushes into a chorus. Should there be a repeat sign after measure 27? Or am I just confused? Thanks
