brettboyParticipantHi Andrew, I’d like to learn Brahms Lullaby. I’d prefer to skip Mary and Twinkle but I’ll add them if you require it. Is that OK?

brettboyParticipantAloha Ukulele Friends. I took on the Spanish Days Lead Part! It is definitely a finger-frenzy and I know I could use a bit more practice but I needed to get something up today as I won’t have another chance this month. I tried my best to sink up my video with RC101’s audio file but that is always super hard for me to get just right. (The pros must have all kinds of tools and secrets for this I never learned 🙂
Evan and Andrew—>Thanks for this great challenge!

brettboyParticipantAloha Uke Family. I learned the Tennessee Waltz this much. Thanks Rc101 for another excellent challenge 🤓
Here’s my best take. (I know there’s a couple slight hiccups in the last bit of this performance but otherwise it turned out pretty groovy😅)

brettboyParticipantAhoy Ukulele Friends. This month I played Rockclass101’s 3 levels of walking bass blues bass lines on my Bass. It was a good challenge and really made my brain work to rewrite the tab for the basses EADG tuning. Here’s the video:
P.S. I got tickets to see Taimane on Friday here in WA state 🙂 I’m sure it will be an amazing show!

brettboyParticipantHappy New Year Uke Friends 😀 Execution: my goal this month is to play the “3 levels of walking bass for low g Uke” (a piece I learned a few years ago) on my Ubass. Application: this challenge will involve transposing the piece to work with the bass’s tuning which for me will be good practice reading notation and ear training. Evaluation: after mastering the piece I’ll post a performance here on the forum.

brettboyParticipantHappy Holidays Ukulele Family! This month I learned Stephen’s excellent UBass Silent Night arrangement. Here’s me playing it with my buddy Ozias:
I just sent $25 to Ukulele Kids Club. Andrew, Thanks for organizing this fundraiser 😀

brettboyParticipantAloha Uke Fam’ I went for Nothing Else Matters this month. It was an epic challenge. I reckon I still need another 20 dedicated hours at least to play this arrangement well but it’s a busy month and this is my best offer 🙂 Happy Strumming and Plucking Everyone!

brettboyParticipantHi Andrew. I’ve been practicing nothing else matters for a few days now. Today I played along with YouTube video but I have a question. It’s Page 3 measure 27. Evan and the band’s YouTube video goes to another verse right there but measure 28 (the C to Am ) pushes into a chorus. Should there be a repeat sign after measure 27? Or am I just confused? Thanks

brettboyParticipantHi Ukulele friends! I’ve already done Severance, Morisson’s Jig and Contemplations (all excellent arrangements btw!) and I was having a hard tome choosing another 2025 RC101 release that spoke to me. I thought about the concept lessons. I really need/want to improve my sound recording situation. I usually just use my iPhone. I have a good mic and I’m pretty good with garage band but I’m just really adverse to putting in the effort for some reason. I did watch Matt D’s recording your Uke video and felt a little inspired but I guess I’m just too lazy. Instagram has been going hard lately trying to sell me the “audio wireless mic and ap for my phone” I looked into it but I’m intimidated by the price. Anyone have any thoughts to share about any of that. I appreciate you all. Now, all that is to say, I kinda phoned it in this month with a quick “April Smile.” This was a sweet little melody and fun to play.

brettboyParticipantAloha Ukuukulelele Family! This month I wanted to learn RC101’s excellent new Morrison’s Jig Arrangement. This one was a real challenge for me. I managed to finally get it 100% memorized over a week ago. But I have, to this day, never played it with perfect accuracy except at snail speed. This take is the pinnacle of my practice, decent speed and almost accurate. Thanks for the great challenge Andrew, Matt and Sam Muir! 🙂

brettboyParticipantThanks Bumble Bard 🙂 The baritone is tuned DGBE which is the same as the bottom 4 strings of a guitar. If you capo the Fifth Fret of a baritone you have GCEA (standard Uke tuning). You could try Morrison Jig on your guitar but it would be very tricky to avoid the low E and A strings. Also this RC101 arrangement requires tuning the D string up to an E to get an open Em tuning.

brettboyParticipantAloha Ukulele Friends!
Ex : I’m going to learn RC101’s new Morrison’s Jig Baritone arrangement 🙂
Ap : watch the RC101 video. Print out the tabs. Play it over and over and over again until I got it at a decent speed.
Ev : Post video on my YT and share it here 🙂
Have a great August Rockclass Fam’ ! ! !
