I’m sitting out the challenges for a bit — this happened in the beginning of June when the Weeping Willow lesson came out and I couldn’t resist. My wrist doc says uke therapy is highly recommended!

Since we’re starting the spring Kanile’a challenges, I thought I’d break out this Islander by Kanile’a that I was lucky enough to win here a couple of years ago. It looks, sounds and plays great. And yes, I had to fudge the ultimate stretch late in the piece, but this little old lady uke player can only do so much with her left hand and forearm! Andrew, as always, these etudes are phenomenal and why RC101 is the best music education site on the inter webs. Cheers!
This is NOT for entry because I already own this month’s prize! It’s a fantastic uke, by the way, and tons of fun to play. Apologies for the occasional clamshell but I really like these mini lessons.
This is not for entry but here’s something from my Way-Back Machine. When Stephen’s Etude 16 came out originally I jumped on it — as a failed banjo player, it spoke to me. And I threw in a little Dueling Banjos too! I’m going to work on another Etude for this month, but in the meantime, happy picking everyone!

I am such a fan of the original compositions on this site. Fun to learn, beautiful music and gives me something other than Ain’t She Sweet to play when someone demands I ‘strum something!’ Thanks again, Andrew, for all of the great music here. Cheers!
