jgillardMembercorrect term is PIMA for rolling the the 1st cord then others
PIMA really just stands P = pulgar (thumb), I = indice (index finger),M = medio (middle finger), A = anular (ring finger). Whenever I hear PIMA, I think of right hand classical guitar technique. You were correct when you were asking about a “rolled chord”. It’s an effect similar to a strum but gives a different sound! 🙂 I would say you definitely don’t need to roll the chords if you don’t want to, but feel free to work on doing so if you think it sounds better that way! I can roll ima fine. Even ami. Including my thumb in the mix.. that I need to work on more! (Don’t worry, I am right handed and struggle doing a TIMR roll as well.) It gets easier if I practice it, but it’s not a technique I’ve used a whole bunch…
I may have gotten my answer from @jgillard entry (excellent btw)
Thanks. I was going to record this and post it anyways.. 😀 I’ve got another piece I was working on that I’ll post on the forum too which was unrelated to any challenges.. Thanks for listening.

Happy April 1st! 🙂
Here is my entry for Fingerpicking Etude No. 32. It was convenient that I started learning this last week! 😛 It’s a catchy little tune.
Comments / Suggestions are welcome.
I’m going to start working on The Ascent. That’s probably above my skill level.. we shall see! 🙂 I’ve only watched the performance of it so far…March 26, 2023 at 4:32 pm in reply to: Participate in the March 2023 Member Challenge: WIN Classical Ukulele! #56884March 26, 2023 at 12:31 pm in reply to: Participate in the March 2023 Member Challenge: WIN Classical Ukulele! #56879
jgillardMemberWhile being FAR from perfect.. 😛 here is my Adelita V2. I think this is a little better than my first attempt, but still not super happy with it.. 🙂
Comments / suggestions are of course always welcome. Thanks,March 24, 2023 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Participate in the March 2023 Member Challenge: WIN Classical Ukulele! #56873

jgillardMemberSo you put your low-G string on the one with the gloss finish, right?
Low G on the Matte Finish one.
I am curious, though, how the gloss finish changes its sound
Probably not a whole lot. 🙂 They sound similar to me. The feel is a bit different (as the neck is gloss) but I like them both equally.

jgillardMemberBy the way, only if you don’t mind me asking, is that a Rebel ukulele you have?
Yes. This is the rebel double creme concert matte finish. I liked it so much I bought another one recently.. I also have a rebel double creme gloss concert. (You can see that one from something I posted last month) That way I can have both high and low-g with the same profile. They are my favorite ukuleles and not my most $$ either. They sound amazing and I love the neck profile / playability.
But your performance was also already sounding very good, and it looks so effortless and “unlaboured” when you play
Thanks. I try and play without tension if I can. It’s harder when you don’t know the song well enough yet..

jgillardMemberHere is my imperfect Adelita. This one definitely needs some work, but I thought I would post my current progress anyways. Thanks for watching! 🙂

jgillardMember@rafaela – Excellent job on Adelita. Sounded great!
@shmu88 – Nice vibrato. I thought you played this very well.
@terryfallon3 – Your rendetion was fine! 🙂 The only tip I would suggest is to try and not cut the notes quite so short. It sounded a bit staccato to me.. But maybe it’s supposed to sound that way? I’m no expert.
@ccwuke – Great job on a tough tune. The added reverb I think works well on this song.
@mark1256 – Nice job. The only tip I would have is to try and relax. The music sounded great to me.
@jody_hendrickson – Nice performance. I would try and accent the melody notes a touch more. (Just a minor point) Sounds awesome!
@clempek – Awesome job. It sounded great to me. You were a touch staccato at the beginning, but once you relaxed a bit it smoothed out. Your intensity seemed fine to me.March 17, 2023 at 9:29 am in reply to: Participate in the March 2023 Member Challenge: WIN Classical Ukulele! #56786
