jinajupiterParticipantlyndallk, amazing sound! And nice playing too
rickeymike What a cool effect with the lamp. The slide you make at the very beginning is very nice.
surfnrz. Are you a director? I like your performance as usual. Rocky Horror show is great. They came to Amsterdam during the Gay Games a sport event and the whole audience was full of cheering drag queens. So lots of fun for the actors as Well
becky7777. So beautifully and emotionally played, nice to finally hear something from you since I’m aboard-

jinajupiterParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
Ufii well I tried, not exactly without mistakes but I don’t have time to practice anymore this month and it is not easy to play with a knife stuck in your brain.
And there is no volume when playing so high up the fretboard, I was pulling the strings to get some sound and the hammer ons, pulls offs are not really audible.
Ok, enough excuses, I did my best. Through an amp with reverb to cover the lack of sustain. And YouTube has nice filters.
Fun arrangement. Chapeau for Evan.

jinajupiterParticipantThanks Stephen that helps a lot!
I will experiment with tone and position to not butcher your nice Jazz Blues. 🙂October 21, 2019 at 9:22 am in reply to: Participate in the October 2019 Member Challenge – WIN a CUSTOM Kanile’a! #32805
jinajupiterParticipantWow Brett, me too working on Danse Macabre.
I ordered a prop by mail, but still waiting for it.
I don’t get any clarity out of these high notes,
You hardly hear the hammer ons and pull offs.
It sounds nice and clear with you.-

jinajupiterParticipantHey Stephen,
I have no clue if I am holding the bass right. I used a strap because the bass kept slipping away and I see in you vids that you are sitting right leg over left to support, but I got cramped sitting too long in this position.
Further am I holding the right hand in the right position?
Is is not too far up the fretboard?
I sort of play with index and middle finger in the right hand.
Like I learned from Andrew in picado technique.
Is that correct for bass?
Is the thumb also included or is that only when you slap?I practiced unamplified and was a bit shocked after I put in an amp.
So much humming! Thanks for the tip to mute the E string with the thumb.
I thought playing bass would be easier, just single notes and not too many
but you are very busy muting the notes after playing them.
It would be nice to have a lesson on basic technique.
Is the sustain of an ukebass (bassuki) longer then a double or electric?
Can I apply any exercise for electric bass? Also I had to really become very Zen and disciplined to play in timing
and I am a very jumpy person.
I now understand why bass players are generally calm modest people (except for Davie504) and friendly and supportive. Not so much applause as the singers or soloists but they oh so important.
I send this message here so other bassuki enthousiasts can read along.
It would be nice to have the answers to the questions because I want to start practicing your Jazz Blues.
Thank you 🙂October 16, 2019 at 1:49 pm in reply to: October 14th, 2019 – Live Lesson Topic: Triplet Picking Technique! #32660

jinajupiterParticipantVery Nice Johanna! Nice hat :). And new ukulele? Luna fits Halloween too. 🙂
jinajupiterParticipantThere is a Rock & Roll bass uke tutorial in G
and most R&R songs by Andrew are in C, a 4th up 🙂
It would nice have a lesson on
R&R bass lines in C
or uke R&R licks or a classic in G
to be able to combine the two.
jinajupiterParticipantI have two ukuleles and I prefer the low G because the range is wider so I have more possibilities for what I personally like to do with the ukulele.
The high G can be nice because if you toggle between the A string and G string while playing a melody or a finger picking pattern the notes are more sustained then when you play a line on one string.
For achieving a traditional jolly strumming style use the high G.
Most songs in this course are written for high G so if you have to choose for your only uke, I would stick to high G for now.
It is too much headache to change the string every time.
I put a low G on my uke and very much liked the sound but decided to buy an extra uke to be able to continue following Rockclass lessons and be more versatile.
Hope this helps from a half year player. 🙂October 10, 2019 at 5:03 pm in reply to: Participate in the October 2019 Member Challenge – WIN a CUSTOM Kanile’a! #32438
jinajupiterParticipantI’m considering to give Danse Macabre a try. like Anirbaf I find it hard to make the hammer on and pull offs ring, so high up the fretboard. I learned in the lesson about buying an ukulele that the laminated tops have less sustain. I already know that I will never manage to play the same speeds as the original but I will do my best. I miss a bit the 3rd and 6th, 8th note of the melody in Theme 3. I would like to add that. Enjoy practicing the spooky and sombers songs everybody.

jinajupiterParticipantNice! Looking forward, I enjoyed La Gitanita. I would like to learn more Flamenco techniques. :). But I probably need to grow my nails to play flamenco. Just realised. That will make playing the piano harder. Mmmmm…..
