Another option is to check where the mic is placed in your uke, the position. And the quality of the mic. I play accordion in a very loud ska band. I have Senheizer mics build in. A problem is that my mics also pick up other instruments. You can buy a equalizer and find on what kHz there is feedback. I use this Carl Martin for my accordion, but there are plenty of other EQ. devices that will work with your uke.
Btw I bought a 2nd hand Boss ME 70 FX pedal and it is so much fun! It has all sorts of distortion, delay, reverb, even wah wah, octaver and a simple looper and more. If you don’t have an amp you can use headphones. They are not so expensive 2nd hand, I payed 80 € about 90 $, because this isn’t the latest ME model.

I must say though after comparing with other Ukes the notes on my Ortega don’t sustain as much after playing. So some how the sound dies faster.

I’d love to learn Blackbird by the Beatles 🙂

surfnrz awesome performance, nice timbre you have to your voice. Are you a guitar player? Because of how you play your tremolos.
Rickeymike, that was great and I loved the end, it made me smile. 🙂
So clever how you memorised the lyrics b.t.w.
Gaberdude, so nice to see your progress. And how you manage to block out the noise from the telly.
    Joe150 happy birthday!

but this is my 2nd contribution this month. I just wanted to share how I adapted
When I Am 64 to a low G ukulele. I know I played it a bit sloppy, not enough time to practice, but I wanted to share anyway for those with a low G string.
B.t.w. If you put a capo on the first fret you can play along with the Beatles!

What is the story behind this carpet and the stunning few that I keep seeing with all this amazing various artists?

Of course so many great artists. One of the many I am impressed with in particular is Joey Calfa, I think he is from Brooklin. And plays with his band Cousin Earth.

This song makes me happy, though some of my friends find it over arranged:

And I like Sarah Maisel for her tasteful arrangents and clear tone:

And of course just like most of you Taimane, Evan da Silva, Rockstar Feng, Jake Shimabukuru, Gerald Ross with his excellent timing, there are quit some great artists in Brazil, like the Overdriver Duo.

And just a nice song accompanied by ukulele and sort of organ by Mateus Lemos:

Yihaaaa so happy with my progress! After one and a half month of Ukulele. Thanks to Rock Class!
I changed the bridge a bit so I can jam along with the Beatles if I put the capo on the 2nd fret. Although that is a bit Ukulele unfriendly and harder to play Bb instead of C.
I hope that is ok for this challenge. If not I am also practicing When I’m 64.
The fast strums at the end of the bridge I messed up.
Further the tapping of my foot made the spoon in my tea cup ring, sorry for that.

    Very nice nthibode!

I play for one and a half month now and because I am so much focussing on playing the notes right I forget to relax my hands.
Some grips are so much firmer then other.
I noticed that I played almost all notes with the same intensity. And when playing a barré chord I noticed my right hand is also tensing up.
So now that I am a tiny bit further on my line of progress I am trying to find out where I can use minimum effort instead of squeezing my way though from beginning to end to avoid getting RSI.

So good that you mentioned this!

Heii I was wondering if these existed at all. For Uke. So, good to hear they exist. Have you tried yet?

Nice Lisa! I also have this low G buzz. I was wondering if it will change if I file the slit in the nut a bit.

I am trying to learn how to improvise. In Em pentatonic and C MAJ in all positions. I use backing tracks that I find on You Tube. Andrew said that if I master one scale type I know them in all keys, just shift to the corresponding key. I promised myself that if I can play at least a blues I will treat myself on a electric solid body uke and with guitar effects.

Great MHeiden. And Lisa is so cool how you keep your hand on the strings so despite of playing only one note in this phrase going up twice, you hear all chromatically going up. I don’t know if that was the idea, but I like that effect. :). The beauty and sincerity in your performance is great Anne!
