jinajupiterParticipantI just started the exercises of the Claw Hammer Course. If I play the brush stroke on beat 2 and 4 I can’t play the melody notes, only on 1 and 3, is that correct?
jinajupiterParticipantI wondered if it is possible to make the melody notes bigger and the accompaniment notes smaller like cue notes so it is easier to distinguish the melody. I found Danse Macabre a bit hard to read and listened a lot to the orchestra version and Evan’s recording to understand what is melody and what accompaniment.
Is it possible to glue the last bar with the final chord of a song behind the last staff? To save paper?
🙂 thanks.
jinajupiterParticipantI am practicing with an ordinary guitar pick on my electric uke. Beginners are adviced to start with a very thin plectrum 0,58 mm but I enjoy the thicker 1,2 mm better. Must be nice to be able to play tremolos like on a mandoline or balalaika. But I am just a beginner so didn’t try that yet. Just struggling with alternate picking.
jinajupiterParticipantHey I was strumming daily banjolele in the circus for three weeks.
After four days my index and middle finger nail were diagonal from wearing out and it really started to hurt to play so I used an Alaska pick on my index finger.
The sound was stronger and more clear and I actually liked it.February 1, 2020 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Participate in the February 2020 Member Challenge – Technique Toolbox Courses! #35486
jinajupiterParticipantThis claw hammer course is so cool!
To me being European it sounds very ethnic,
And I really like it! I’m totally in this month!
Thanks RC101. 🙂
jinajupiterParticipantIf you put a small sticker on the 2nd fret on the C string to make a D,
and a sticker on the 1st fret of the E string to make a F, you can play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with this two notes plus all open strings.
Depending on their age it might hurt their fingers.
There are special silicone thimbles to cover the LH finger tops
And felt picks for the right hand if you want to teach strumming.C C G G A A G
F F E E D D C
G G F F E E D
G G F F E E D
C C G G A A G
F F E E D D CAre You Sleeping Brother John (Frère Jacques) melody can be played with this two notes and open strings as well. Also easy to learn to accompany, only a C chord on the first beat of every bar. So they can sing while strumming the C chord.
jinajupiterParticipantWow that is pretty! Are you happy with the sound?
jinajupiterParticipantHappy New Year!
I am curious about this clawhammer lessons. Will try on my banjolele
Further I will spend some time with my Les Paul ukulele.
Learn how to play with a pick, try the R&R songs this school has to offer.
And Rock classics. Fiddle around with effects.
Maybe learn how to play jazz voicings without the root on it.
Maybe later in the year spend some time on different types of
Flamenco strumming and Venezolano cuatro strumming like Joropo.
That’s it. :). Wish you all a creative year!
jinajupiterParticipantLooking forward to this course Andrew. 🙂
