johnnyrottenParticipantThanks Dirk55, but that’s not me playing. I agree with the nostalgia provided by this song, and yes, I’d like to learn some sex pistols tunes too. It’s Victoria Day weekend here in Canada so maybe God Save the Queen?
johnnyrottenParticipantHow about Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien by Edith Piaf
johnnyrottenParticipantI was literally listening to Alice’s Restaurant yesterday thinking the same thing!
johnnyrottenParticipantHow about Kirsty McColl’s version of Miss Otis Regrets?
johnnyrottenParticipantThird!!
johnnyrottenParticipantAwesome – thanks!

johnnyrottenParticipantGreat job Grace! Much improvement over those first videos. As with anything, the best way to improve is practice, practice, practice!
johnnyrottenParticipantHi Andrew. Quick question on tapped harmonics. When you tap, do you tap hard enough to have the string come in contact with the fret wire, or are you just tapping the string itself (as in plucked harmonics)?
Thanks!

johnnyrottenParticipantWell done everybody! It’s half way through the month and I’m nowhere near being able to start the million takes it’ll get me to post something worthwhile. I guess that why they call it a “challenge”!
Keep up the good work!
P.S. – I’m getting my new uke for Father’s Day and I’ve already strung my old one as a low G (for those who commented earlier!)
johnnyrottenParticipantJust to shake it up, I’m voting for Ants Marching

johnnyrottenParticipantMaryJane, good advice, but to be clear, I’m not looking for reasons not to buy another uke. I’m too lazy to change a string every time I want to switch!

johnnyrottenParticipantAnother beginner low-G tune. Just the excuse I need to buy another uke! Got any budget-friendly suggestions that can be tuned low-G? I already have a Kala KA-C.

johnnyrottenParticipantThanks Andrew. First let me say that I really appreciate the individual feedback and the effort you put into this. That video made me feel like you were in my living room giving me a private lesson. Awesome job!
I agree – I did feel like I was rushing it. The original is set at 120bpm, and I was trying to keep it as close to that as I could – and you can see it was a struggle for me – especially the slide/pull-off at the beginning of melody B.
I also don’t know why for this particular piece I chose the thumb-only approach – my preferred right-hand is usually using 4-fingers. I guess I have difficulty transitioning between strumming and picking, so using the thumb for both just made sense to me. Is there a lesson on how to get that strumming/picking down, or is it just a matter of practice, practice, practice?

johnnyrottenParticipantThanks Andrew! I love the personal feedback you provide to each and every one of us. I’m working diligently on Out in the North and hope to get another entry in for that beautiful pineapple! I know it’s not the instrument that make the master, but it sure doesn’t hurt!
