lisadmhParticipant@anirbaf, that was useful to me. But why do you put minor chords as corresponding in a major scale?
lisadmhParticipantThanks Andrew. Yes, you seem to be right. I’ll see what I can do about it. Tricky.
lisadmhParticipantHahaha. First time ever I’ve gotten exactly what I wanted in the first take. But it’s buzz.
lisadmhParticipant@Andrew. On this chord and other 4-string chords in the same song, when I come up to staccato it, I buzz. What am I doing wrong?
Sorry for hijacking your thread, Rickey. 🙂 I’m working on that pesky G string too. It didn’t sound much when I clipped it on Ain’t no Sunshine, on high G, but when you clip it on a low G, boom!
lisadmhParticipantHey Rickey. That is a tough chord to get your fingers around. I’m making progress, but I still buzz it sometimes.
Have you tried building it a string at a time? My video shows doing 2 fingers, then 3, then adding the 4th. It might take many practices to get it clean(ish). This might be useless, just a thought!
lisadmhParticipantFor a classical pick, something from Eric Satie would be great. Gymnopedies are lovely.
The Gnossiennes would be fabulous on uke though. They’re harder and probably beyond me for speed, but I can hear the uke in it. Lots of hammer ons and embellishments:

lisadmhParticipantYou guys did an amazing job! A lot of work went into this. Congrats on a very cool piece of music. 😀😀😀

lisadmhParticipantLol @brettboy. I’m assuming you got through that without too many takes. That beer break would not have worked for me with the number of takes I need. Fab performance!
Great job everyone. Keep them coming!

lisadmhParticipantGreat job, folks. Lots of amazing takes on Out in the North.
Dryossi, wow, singing and everything! Nice 🙂
Stephen, thanks for the feedback. I think I know the bit you’re talking about. Noted.
lisadmhParticipantI think the wooden travel ukes are more about size/portability than durability. Where are you traveling and how?
If you’re taking a plane to a moderate climate and staying in a hotel the whole time, wood would probably be fine, with a good solid case. If you’re backpacking, going to the beach, going somewhere humid and somewhere dry, etc., something like an outdoor ukulele would be more durable. It doesn’t sound like wood, but it keeps on sounding like a uke even when it gets wet and bumped around and such.

lisadmhParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
I cede. Here’s what I’ve got. It always amazes me how much better it sounds in my head compared to the recording. The recording definitely cuts off the sustain.
Anyway, I feel pretty good about this one. I learned to play with a backing track (thanks Stephen! and thanks Andrew for making it required), I learned the thumb flick up (I usually cheat on that), and I learned to lighten up on the strings a bit (you’re welcome). Not bad for one challenge. There is of course much room for improvement and I appreciate feedback. Thanks!

lisadmhParticipantHaha, let me know if it works and I’ll give it a try too.
lisadmhParticipantGreat job, love it! Thanks for sharing.
lisadmhParticipantWelcome Andy! Check out the challenge thread. It’s where we hang out. 😀 might you join us? It’s tons of fun and motivating. See ya around!
