lyndallkParticipantThat is beautiful. So much atmosphere and it really creates imagery of clouds dancing. And well played
lyndallkParticipantThanks for sharing your experience with us. That is very moving. I’m pleased you had such a special time with your mum in her last moments. You will have that all your life!

lyndallkParticipantHere’s my submission for this month. Been away sans uke and just catching up with people’s postings. Good to hear. Due to it being the last day, and I’m quite tired, its not without flaws, even though I can do better…..
Cheers

lyndallkParticipantMike I don’t know how you keep playing with such distraction. And keep in time and play with great technique. I couldn’t hold it together when a helicopter went over head!

lyndallkParticipantThanks huckfine and Rickeymike. Glad you listened.
lyndallkParticipantvery very jealous!
lyndallkParticipantThat’s great Ayin08. At some point I’m going to post my version of this tune. It was the tune that brought me to the site! And its a wonderful arrangement by Andrew. When I have time I’ll post it too.

lyndallkParticipantHad a little catch up on your posts, and am enjoying the creativity.
Here’s my submission – not doing the music reading. I generally read both the tabs, and the music for the timing etc. I can’t get the guitar out of my head when reading music
So here’s my version of “Bourée” One day we may play ukulele like the cellist in Becky7777’s video!
Cheers
Lyndall
lyndallkParticipantThinking of you Anne and Tom. What a lovely idea Andrew – a real gift of caring. Lets follow up on Robin’s idea to play whatever you arrange.
With love and appreciation

lyndallkParticipantThanks so much for your feedback Stephen. I find it hard to just practice little bits until they’re right so that is good feedback that I will take on. It was a lot of work, but very very fun.
I’m inspired by other’s writing their own music, and doing their own arrangements. I think that’s amazing.
Cheers

lyndallkParticipantRobin I was there over a 10 year period give or take – I lived all over from Strahan to Bicheno. For some years we had a little farm in Meander (near Deloraine). And of course, I lived in Hobart too. I’m devastated by the destruction in the wilderness areas of these fires, and the ones in 2016. The Tasmanian wilderness is some of the most beautiful in the world.
FYI I’m going to do a uke building workshop with a friend sometime this year in Tassie.
Sending good cool sodden thoughts to you and Tiffany and all the folks down there.

lyndallkParticipantRobin – you’re in Tasmania! Very bad bush fires. I’ve been watching with keen interest (I lived in Tassie for many years and have many friends there still). Keep safe and lets hope for big rain very very soon.

lyndallkParticipantLisa, the piece is great! With so much atmosphere – a little haunting – good title too “Now and Then” Hope it helped with the happy! Its also good to hear some of what you think as you start composing – eg the circle of 5ths.
Thanks Rickeymike – took many takes. Looking forward one day to be able to perform it in front of folks. Thanks Becky777 for the lovely and detailed message. Really appreciate your encouragement. And yes, I’ll keep it in my repertoire.
Uku-on – enjoying your progress of While my guitar gently weeps. I tried to learn that once. Enough said! Look forward to a full performance sometime. The sound of your uke is lovely. Do you have it plugged straight in to whatever is recording it?
The weather finally broke It’s cooler today. Yay.
Cheers,

lyndallkParticipantIts good to hear what people are doing. I feel I’m getting to know many of you and see and hear your progress over time. That is one of the joys of Rock Class 101!
So, here is my version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and Jake’s arrangement (as best as I can do it!) There are a couple of glitches, but all in all I’m pleased to have played a reasonable version while recording it, and without music – fully memorised. That was my goal. I was going to put together an outtake movie of my practice throughout the month, but I just don’t have time. So there was lots of stops and starts, many start over agains, some knocks on the door, requests from the other room, a little swearing especially if I made it 4 mins in…. But finally…
You may notice some lightening in the background. Sadly the heat and humidity didn’t break with a big storm though. Still hoping.
Anyway, here it is – I hope you enjoy it if you get a chance to watch
