Happy New Year Everyone!
1) Execution – I don’t have any vocal talent so I shy away from singing and strumming on ukulele. Learning to play fingersytle is what drawn me to RC101 at the first place. I would say I’m at the budding intermediate level at fingerstyle playing but very much a newbie in other ukulele techniques such as strumming, etc. I want to broaden my skills and learn ghost note strum and other techniques that are unique to high G tuning. So this month, I will leverage a well structured course on RC101, Next Level Strumming. I plan to devote at least an hour a day and go through each of the exercise modules. I will use the Tab Play Along feature to make sure I achieve rhythmic consistency before moving to the next module. I hope to complete all exercise by mid Jan.
2) Application – I want to apply the techniques to learn and perform the capstone piece “Crossing Hemispheres”.
3) Evaluation – I will do one recording at end of each week and listen to playback and ask my dancing friend for feedback 🙂

Here’s my performance of It’s Beginning to Look a a Lot like Christmas. I had lots of fun learning this iconic Xmas melody.

@Andrew thank you for your feedback as always. I have learned so much from the monthly challenges, live lessons and this community. This month marked my 2 years of participation and ukulele playing woo hoo! Uke has brought me much joy and inner peace. Looking forward to rock out the next challenge with everyone!

Loved learning this melody and performing alongside the band. I don’t think I hit the rhythm quite right with Melody B around bars 15 & 16. It was pretty challenging with chunking/muting but loved the sound and energy even though it’s supporting the guitar play. My Melody C rhythm could also be tighter. As always, i appreciate any feedback and improvement tips.

@leb397 haha! My little helper, Don Don, wanted to be part of the video lol. This was not the new uke from the challenge. I’m still getting used to the new longneck Soprano Uke as it does not have a strap and I’m relearning how to keep uke steady without a strap. Hope it will make a debut appearance in an upcoming challenge soon.

Fields Of Gold. Love this tune and I found it difficult to play it with emotions and show my musicality. My play seemed rigid and I need to loosen up and work on controlling the volume of each note played.
It didn’t help trying to get the recording done after a stressful day at work.
Appreciate feedback on areas to work on and improve.
Enjoyed learning Matt’s arrangement of Jimmy Buffet’s Maragaritaville. Any feedback on improvement is appreciated.
