richo_ukeParticipantThank you Andrew and surferjay for your answers. Now I understand and will give these chords another try. Perhaps I’m able to play this beautiful song after some practice.
Have a great weekend. Greetings from Germany.
richo_ukeParticipantHello Andrew, let me ask once again as I perhaps misunderstood you or you didn’t understand my question.
I still can’t play the song because I struggle with those chords where my middle finger plays string 1+2, middle plays string 3 and index string 4. I absolutely can’t bend the middle finger enough and form a round shape with my ring finger at the same time.
Could I use a similar chord with more easy fingering. To come to your answer. What exactly did you mean when you suggested barring from third string?
Thanks in advance.
richo_ukeParticipantHi guys,
I vote for CRAZY. Such a beautiful song.
richo_ukeParticipantHallo Sebi,
herzlich willkommen hier bei RC. Ich wünsche dir viel Spaß und vor allem viel Erfolg. Dann lass uns die Barton mal nach Good old Germany holen.
Liebe Grüße aus Rheinland-Pfalz

Hello Rockclass family,
first of all I want to thank you, Andrew, that there were two beginner friendly songs to choose from. I tried to learn ‚The Last Airbender‘ because I had done a bit of practicing this song some time ago. But I still found it difficult because of two main reasons:
a) I didn‘t know this melody and couldn‘t remember it —— that‘s why I have to keep looking at the fretboard and the notes while playing.
This causes many mistakes.
b) I wanted to play this melody with the thumb but found it difficult to do the slides on 2 strings with the thumb. So I decided to play finger picked. Here I struggled very much with plucking the first three strings evenly one after the other.
If you can give me any advice it would be helpful if you could help me with these problems.I know that there are mistakes but I couldn‘t do better.
Thanks for reading.

richo_ukeParticipantHello everybody,
I’ve practiced a lot and I think that Spanish Romance is the one piece of music I play the best (so you have an idea of my abilities) but I only took two takes of me playing.
So I’m quite happy with the result as I normally need 10 times as much takes and the result isn’t much better.I know that there are many mistakes and I was surprised that the sound was a little harsh – I didn’t recognize that before recording.
Greetings from Germany

richo_ukeParticipantHi Andrea,
thank you for your kind words.
Yes, Spanish Romance is wonderful and I practice it since its release date and therefore skipped “Into the Maze”.
But I struggle as always with some fingerings.
My other GREAT problem it that I can’t play songs that are “long” because I, I dont’t know why, can’t memorize the complete piece and then I struggle because I have to look at my music sheet or/and my hands to find the notes I have to grab… and then I make so many mistakes… in the end I can’t finish…
So, right now I am a little frustrated but I do my very best.
Best,

richo_ukeParticipantHi Andrew,
I saw you sitting there with a “new” uke and I think it was a baritone. So you are starting with that soon?
I wonder why you have to choose a theme? So none of the songs is for a beginner and I would like to participate (more often) but most of the time I fail because the chosen songs are to difficult for me.
Please consider having the chance for everyone to participate in the challenge because as you said… it’s not about the giveaway but about practicing a piece of music “in a special way” (don’t know how to say it in English). And if there is no theme for the beginners in that month so why not choose any song just for having the chance to be part of the community…Have a nice day and looking forward for interesting music to come.

richo_ukeParticipantMy vote goes to: Chasing cars
But I think it will be ‘River flows in you’ because it has so many votes already. Andrew, please have a beginner friendly version of whatever song will win.

Hello Andrew, hi guys,
I decided to upload THIS recording because not a single recording was without mistakes, which was a bit frustrating. Nevertheless, it was fun to practice for the monthly member challenge – this was the first time I kept it up to the end. And I’m proud of that. I will keep practicing the song and hopefully improve a little bit.
I hope that the song for the next month’s challenge is easy enough for me so that I can participate again.
Greetings from Germany
