Hi,
I can’t say I’m happy with this performance, but it seem that as soon as I start recording I tend to freeze and make numerous mistakes. At any rate, here is my attempt at Spanish Romance. Thank you for giving all of us this opportunity to have so much fun playing and learning such a fun instrument!

ParticipantI absolutely agree with your recommendation to slow down Melody B. I stuck with the faster pace to see if I could meet the challenge, but slowing down initially will ultimately allow me to play it cleaner as I speed up. Thanks for the feedback and for your wonderful website!

I always enjoy listening to everyone’s submissions. Kudos to you all!
Here is my attempt at Take 5. I’ve struggled getting clean, clear notes on Melody B since I started learning this piece, but for now this is as good as it gets.December 19, 2020 at 5:32 pm in reply to: Participate in the December 2020 Member Challenge – LAST CHANCE TO WIN Kanile’a #43032rockmyuke

Hi all,
Here is my attempt at Dream State. It’s such a wonderful melody. I really enjoyed learning to play it . . and listening to everyone play this tune and all the other November challenge songs. Thank you!

Hi Everyone
Here is my submission for October. Although I tried to concentrate on using a finger flick instead of a wrist strum, I was obviously unsuccessful with that when I recorded the tune.I’ve certainly enjoyed listening to everybody’s playing!

ParticipantHi Robin (@robinboyd),
My uke isn’t a custom. It’s a solid koa tenor that I bought from a company called Sound Smith in Bend, OR. Their website is http://www.soundsmithgear.com. The owner’s name is Shannon Check them out.

ParticipantHi Everybody,
Here is a tune I wrote I call WALKABOUT.
I think every month’s challenge should include the option of an original song. It clearly stimulates the songwriting in all of us!

ParticipantStephen,
Thank you for your kind words. I always look forward to feedback to help me improve my playing. I was very aware of the difficulty I had with the transition at 1:00 – 1:03. Being that far into the song, I didn’t want to stop and start over! Besides, I knew that if I did start over, I would probably make a mistake somewhere else. Getting those notes high up the neck to ring out is difficult for me, but with time (and practice) I’m hoping to improve. Thanks again.

ParticipantHi Andrew,
Thank you so much for your feedback. Although I am keenly aware of the need (as well as my desire) to make sure I achieve sustain on chords and notes so they ring out, achieving that is not always easy. I will surely continue to work on that. Regarding the stretching you mentioned, I definitely try to change my hand position to reach certain notes, but given your advice, I will now approach this differently and use your stretching lesson to improve my form and technique.
Again, thank you very much. I really enjoy your website and it has definitely enhanced my ability and enjoyment of the ukulele.
