    Finally – my submission for the last challenge of the year.
    It’s probably the worst I ever submitted and I’m sorry for wasting your time listening to this. ^^;
    I had hardly any time to practice this and recording conditions were horrible. But, well, at least I got the job done…

    Happy, happy holidays to all of you around the world! Good health to every single one! See you next year for more challenges. 🙂

    After having missed last months challenge I worked on this one with all the more determination!
    I like your arrangement of “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” even better than the original – so it had to be this one for this challenge. It definitely brought me to my limits, with only so much time to spare, having a 2 month old baby girl at home. <3 I found this piece surprisingly hard to memorize, with all the repetitions being rather similar but never exactly the same. I still don’t have the chorus down, but that’s due to lack of time.
    The playing is a little stiff, the performance far from flawless and I had to keep the volume down while recording – but it was now or never. 😉

    So here is my go at this months challenge – enjoy! 😀

    Since I’m not sure if my first post already counts to secure a place in the raffle, here’s the second piece. This is the result of fooling around with my ukulele and a loop station app on my mobile phone (Looper).

    And tomorrow I’ll go and listen to all the pieces I missed out on in the second half of September. ^^;

    Wow, what an incredible month it has been!! I have to say, I *love* these originals-challenges. All this creativity of you people is just beautiful ro behold! More, more, more! 🙂

    I decided to submit two pieces – the first one isn’t finished yet, which is also, why I regard it as a “sneak preview”. First bits came to me in January, two days after my wife told me she was pregnant, so of course she asked, if this one was for our unborn baby?
    Also, in January Andrew announced the first original-challenge, but I didn’t want to rush it. ^^;
    Now, about nine months later there’s the second original-challenge – and, you guessed it: I’m now the proud father of a ten day old baby girl! <3
    So even if the songs not finished yet (still working on some other parts and lyrics), this is the perfect time to put some of it out there! 🙂

    I must admit, I like this ukulele arrangement more than the original song. ^^;
    What I found particularly challenging this time is that the parts are all so similar yet slightly different… This stressed me out. So i decided to just “go with the flow” and probably don’t stick to every note of the actual arrangement.

    Where I feel improvement this time: When stumbling, I sometimes managed to stay in the metrum and just went on instead of correcting myself – yep, sometimes.

    So here’s my go:

    I decided to tackle the 12th Street Rag this month – Spongebob, yay! 😀
    I already got a lot more confident recording myself through these challenges. But still – when the end came up I started freaking that I might ruin a take that hadn’t been too bad thus far. You can actually hear the effort I put into not messing up, but still losing the flow during the final section over it… So be it. ^^;

    Thanks for the great tutorial @Christopher! I like how you explain all the chord progressions, although I have to pause a lot to take it in and think it through.
    My main problem though was to switch from C to G7 smoothly – always feeling I had to switch between the two main shapes of proper left hand form to not lose the grip on my ukulele…

    So here is my submission! Have fun. 🙂

    Wow, what a month… Never do two hard challenges in a row! ^^; Last month I invested a lot of time in Ain’t No Sunshine – and it payed off. Also, thank you all so much for your encouraging words back then @nthibode, @surfnrz, @rickeymike – and of course @Stephen for your feedback! 🙂
    It got me motivated for the June challenge and I wanted to tackle Stairway To Heaven, but with less time at my hands than last month. Long story short: I didn’t make it and switched to People Are Strange some days ago. Today I finished memorizing the piece, but it’s my brain playing and piecing the different parts together instead of my muscle memory. I’ll definitely keep working on it, but at least I managed to get it ready for submission on time.
    So I know I probably butchered it. So for feedback, actually the answer to one simple question would be enough for me: How do you like my ending, resolving it to an E major chord? 🙂

    What a month! I loved this challenge!! Halfway through May I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to finish this song – but I did it! 😀
    I instantly fell in love with this arrangement of “Ain’t No Sunshine” when I stumbled upon @nthibode’s forums thread from back when she learned this piece a while ago. I immediately put it on my to do list for “when I’d be good enough”. Hadn’t you pushed me by putting it up for this challenge, I wouldn’t have dared yet to touch it… So, thank you!!

    And now I finally have some time to have a look at all the other submissions so far! XD

    I enjoyed Loke Lani for two reasons: practicing the triplet strum and a nice fingerpicking part!
    I loved this challenge. 🙂

    This challenge marks one year of rocklass101.com for me! I’ve learned a lot and am still motivated to learn and practice more – and for this I want to thank you, the community here! 🙂

    I was aiming to learn Lagrima this month, since it is something I believe my mother used to play on her guitar when I was a child. I started late into the challenge and got section A memorized, but still not ready to play fluently, even at a slow pace…
    So I changed plans (like others here did, too ^^;) and went for the Waltz instead. And this is, where I see how much I’ve learned over the last year: Three days time, and I got this piece somewhere half-decent! Yay!

    So, once again: Thank you! I’m looking forward to another great year of learning and growing. 🙂

    Such a great idea to give the community the chance to submit their own compositions! I really loved what I heard this month. 🙂

    The real challenge for me was, to decide and partake at the challenge at all. Having been sick for some weeks (my longest ukulele break since I took up playing in February last year) I ran out of time. But I decided to push through and still give it my best shot.

    So here is my rendition of Grace’s Lullaby:
