santaiParticipantHi there!
When I saw that “La Gitanita” was up for the challenge, I decided to take the time and participate. I love this piece ever since I first memorized it for the August 2019 challenge and played it from time to time for the last 6 years. Incredible: 6 years?!Well, so here is my entry! Not as clean as I would have liked… But happy to be here nonetheless.

santaiParticipantFinally I managed to get something ready for submission again! My first entry this year… ^^;
When I closed in on the ending I added to the etude, my brain kind of froze and I added another repetition to collect myself again. But nevermind. Posting something here in time is enough of an achievement for me. 😀
I hope you’re all well! 🙂December 23, 2021 at 11:20 pm in reply to: Participate in the December 2021 Member Challenge – WIN $2,100 Kanile’a #50045
santaiParticipantNow that my post seems to show, including the soundcloud link, I don’t dare editing it again. So here comes what I had to say apart from just posting my submission.
I really love those lessons including singing! Keep them coming! 😀 This whole platform here is just great. You’re doing a wonderful job – not only with the tutorials, but keeping us busy and hooked. Keep up the great work!
And of course: Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone here!! See you next year! 🙂

santaiParticipantVery nice Etude! I tried to infuse my playing with as much feel as possible – so, the tempo changes are there on purpose. 😅

santaiParticipantWow, I was BLOWN AWAY by the colab submission of @nthibode and @brettboy! Really, really great stuff!
I chose the same song for this challenge – but much too little time to practice shows in my recording. Still: I got it submitted, which is the goal I set for myself. Lots of lots of flaws – especially from the second chorus onwards. Singing and playing the ukulele while getting more and more nervous about messing up (and actually doing just that) – overload! XD
I’ll definitely keep practicing this song.I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER!

santaiParticipantSongs about food – loved this challenge!
Here’s my take on Cornbread and Butterbeans. Incredible how this Clawhammer technique turns a regular ukulele into a banjo! 😀

santaiParticipantCongratulations to your new uke, @philbateau!
Abig thank you to you for your feedback, @Stephen.
And an even bigger thank you to everyone here – rockclass101-team and participants alike! These are strange times, and they seem to become crazier and crazier by the month… Our shared focus on beautiful music is such an important anchor!September 1, 2021 at 6:40 am in reply to: Participate in the September 2021 Member Challenge – Theme: Songs About Food #48177
santaiParticipantCornbread and Butterbeans it is!
For two reasons actually:
1) This was up for a challenge one and a half years back. Got it down and practiced – but missed the deadline. So this is my chance to review what’s left and relearn the rest. 😉
2) While playing back the videos now, this was the tune that immediately got my 11-month-old daughter dancing. 😀August 31, 2021 at 10:08 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2021 Member Challenge – Theme: Fingerpicking Etudes! #48167
santaiParticipantHalf a year without a submission – though I’ve been watching from afar. 😉
Finally started practicing early enough into the month again to arrive at a version I could submit as close to the deadline as always. ^^; Travis picking definitely has me hooked! Enjoy. 🙂

santaiParticipantHere’s my submission of Gymnopédie No. 1 – very close to the deadline as always… My goal for next time: Finally post my submission a little earlier into the month. ^^;
Still a little wonky and blackout-ish at times. I’m not doing this wonderful piece of music nor the beautiful arrangement for ukulele any justice… But still: For once I reeeeally want to win this raffle – ukulele with pickup! *fingers crossed* 😀And now I’ll listen to some of the other submissions in this thread. Everybody has been so busy!
January 31, 2021 at 7:13 pm in reply to: Participate in the January 2021 Member Challenge – Theme: Levels (Beg/Int/Adv) #45117
santaiParticipantAs so many others here I chose Santa Fe, although it felt kind of out of reach at first. But listening to Ottmar Liebert’s acoustic version a lot really helped along the way.
At part C I got really stressed that I might now ruin an otherwise okay recording at the last second – so I cut it shorter than I actually intended to and didn’t go into a repeat. You can even hear my stress, when the strings don’t ring out as clear as they schould, because my hand got so cramped. ^^; But I made it through!
Thanks a lot for a wonderful arrangement and for making me aware of Ottmar Liebert in the first place! 🙂
