santaiParticipantGreat options! And I have a hard time deciding for which one to go…
I put Wipeout on my bucket list just a few days ago. 😀 There’s a lot I could learn trough this piece – and I presume it’s achievable, if done with an easier ending. Although I’ll probably not get it up to the intended speed.
The other option for me would be Tonight You Belong to Me – and not just played but sung as a duet with my wife. 😉 She already agreed she’d be in. I just have to wrap my head around playing and singing at the same time. And actually, for me this piece feels harder to play than Wipeout at the first glance…
I guess I’ll just try both and see where I make to enough progress to submit something. 😉

santaiParticipantThank you so much for your feedback, Andrew and morrieuke1! 🙂
I will consider posting a video for the next challenge – we’ll see…I really loved the sung contributions! This makes it a whole different kind of challenge, especially since I’m not a good multitasker.
@Brenna: Your “rogue” style of playing is incredibly inspiring to me. You did this In April too with Dream A Little Dream of Me. That’s the kind of musicality I’d lime to acquire with the uke. And you make it look so effortless…Also, thanks again for the feedback Stephen and Andrew! Through this, everyone here has already won, even without the raffle. 😉

santaiParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
I’m a lot less active here in the forums as I’d like to be – but almost all my ukulele-time this month went into practicing for the challenge… I still count myself a beginner, having started really playing the ukulele in February. But still: I love Here Comes The Sun, so I worked hard to submit this song to the challenge.
I’m really happy with the results and my progress – although I’ve yet to perform a flawless take, but I’m content. 😉 Thanks sooo much for helping me setting goals and growing through it!April 28, 2019 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Participate in the April 2019 Member Challenge – WIN a Kanile’a Tenor Uke! #26879
santaiParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
Yes, I am. 😀 I’m sooo impressed and inspired by all of your submissions – and I really love how cleverly the lessons are set on this site, so I decided to give premium membership a go. Plus: I just want to honour your ambitions to put this really great platform out there. I really like this community already, after having found my way here just a month ago! 🙂
I tried to take aaway a lot from the hints and tips on all the other submissions – cleaning up my playing etc… It’s really a lot to take in, so sometimes my brain just freezes right while I’m playing. I know there is still a lot to be done, but at the same time I can see my progress, and this keeps the motivation up to keep “polishing”!
So here is my take on “Dream a Little Dream of Me” for the April challenge.
April 8, 2019 at 3:14 am in reply to: April 8th, 2019 Live Lesson Topic: Hammer-Ons & Pull-Offs #26334
santaiParticipantI’ve got a question on hammer-ons and pull-offs: There is a tiny part in your arrangement of “Happy Birthday”, where there is a hammer-on followed by two pull-offs – all on the A string. (https://rockclass101.com/happy-birthday-ukulele/)
How do I manage to get the hammer-on powerful enough to be properly heard?
I found it especially to do the hammer-on with the ring-finger on the A string, since the middle finger was already resting on the same fret of the E string. That’s very restricted space for a hammer-on, especially one that is heard without using a pickup. Or did I get this wrong and hammer-ons are actually a technique to be just used when playing with a pickup?-

santaiParticipantThank you becky7777 and Andrew for your encouraging words!
It’s fair that my submission couldn’t be included in the raffle – and I don’t regret that I still pushed myself to do so. It was well worth the effort and got me really motivated. 🙂For now, I’m already practicing for April’s challenge – and am incorporating your hint to loop only a few measures to improve on the timing and transitions.
Also, all the advice to other players is really helpful for myself, too!
So, thanks again! And last but not least: Congratulations to erino7!!

santaiParticipantI’m not quite sure, whether or not my entry will count, since I uploaded it directly as a wav-file. So I signed up for Soundcloud as well now.
Here’s the link – I hope submission time of my first post still counts. 😉PS: Soooo great to listen to all of the other contestants’ versions! This community really seems great!

santaiParticipantI stumbled upon this site early this week because of Andrew’s fingerpicking version of “Happy Birthday”, which I started practicing right away to play to my little sister. 😉
When I saw this challenge it intrigued me immediately. I’m a beginner with the Ukulele and have mostly played chord progressions to accompany songs – so fingerpicking is an entirely different universe for me.This was on Thursday, and I decided to just give it a go, try my best and have fun. So here is my try at the first of the three sections of “Danny boy” – with a lot of room for improvement. 😀
