Hello, i finaly changed (again…) my low G so i can learn that one to challenge me, and it was very challenging with those quick tricky chords transitions. But i also started learning “last christmas” because i find it more rewarding, less hard but with a super catchy melody. I like both but i really like fingerpicking in “last christmas”.
Thank you all for your tutorials, it’s always a pleasure to play your arrangements.

I’m so happy to be back!!!
In 5 years i think i never let my uke alone more than 2 or 3 days, but these last three month i couldn’t touch it because of work, i was so depressed..but now i’m ready to learn new songs 😀I worked on 75% speed the last 2 weeks, and don’t know why tonight after recording my vidéo i told myself “Ukandoit”, and i recorded the 100% speed wich took me at last 30 tries hahaha (look at my face, it means everything lol)
Enjoy 😉

Hello RC101 🙂
Hopefully i worked on that one 4 years ago when begining uke.
I modified it a little bit because with the lowG i didn’t like very much the end like 00090005000. But i tried to stick to your version. Let me know if you don’t accept it, there is no problem to play your version if it is the rule.Thank you for watching.
EDIT: I’ve changed my strings a month ago. Am i the only one to hear the 12 fret not ringing properly? i mean, like if my uke was not in tune…I’m almost sure it’s not exactly the sound it should have, and it’s only on the 12 fret. Let me know. Thank you

A bit lazy this month :/
Started to work on it this morning and recorded it tonight, so it’s not perfect at all.
While playing 0045 and then 2200, i just use 2 fingers (instead of 4 recommended, using pinky ect.) and don’t let the chords ring properly, i made mistakes, and at the end i don’t even remember the chords and i’m totaly lost while trying to find the chords on my computer screen hahaha.I’ll learn the song perfectly next time 😉

Hello
I had so much fun learning this christmas song and i’m so happy to be able to play it to my grandmother for christmas.
I should have use my mic instead of my phone, i’m so sad to be so lazy!
I made some mistakes, and i should play with evan in my earphones because i’m not in time, but i’m satisfied of what i did 🙂-

ukandoitMemberLike everyone i’ll say thank you to Andrew and his team for this amazing work. I always told that i would not be the ukulele player i am now without RC101, 100% sure. Thank you so much!
Well, to answer to the topic i would like to know if we could think about Evan making tutorials or at least video explanations?
I know it takes time to make videos and that he is young and has to focus on school. BUT…I often work on Evan’s arrangements, and for some like “bohmian rhapsody” i’m (very) happy to get a simplified version. But for a lot of others i would have like to get explanations about Evan’s version. Well i always found what i wanted but sometimes i spend 30 minuts trying to figure out what he exactly did, even with the tabviewer (you are incredible Evan haha)
ex: “christmas song”, while playing 10 10 10 13 and 10 10 12 13 there are very quick opens that are not played with the same strenght and it’s the kind of part where i would need video explanations from Evan. Not the best example but i hope you get what i mean.As i’m on RC101 for a while now, i know that you encourage your members to play the arrangements with their own feelings, with their own interpretation, just keeping the melody intact. So i’m sorry for asking precise explanations of Evan’s performances all year long, i do exactly the opposit of what you say! I just need to work like this to improve my playing, like a monkey and that is why i ask you this for 2021.
As it’s not concerning a lot of members i understand my request is not the more important, but as i plan to stay on RC101 for a looooong time, i guess we can start talking about it for the future (2022 ? 2023?).
Thank you again RC101 😉

I asked you if I could learn the easiest one but I ended learning dream state and witcher haha. Hope you enjoy the phone recording for this time, I lost a wire for my mic 😒I’m preparing my video for Georgia on my mind, I worked a lot, I can’t wait to show you!!

November 13, 2020 at 1:24 pm in reply to: November 14, 2020 – Live Lesson: 5 Ukulele Players You Should Know #41898
ukandoitMemberVery interesting subject, there are a lot of players to know..from Roy smeck to Evan 😉
ukandoitMember@becky7777 be careful, i don’t want to give bad advices, i’m not a ukulele teacher!
I say that because in my opinion, when you are trying to build the speed up, it’s not the same thing at all. So don’t apply my analogy to “building the speed up”.
When i said trying what is hard for us it is more about hard shapes or quick jump between two hard shapes, things that you can’t play very well even at slow tempo. Well, it’s trying arrangements that are above our current level. It’s about untying our fingers.
When i want to go faster, as in the part i totaly miss on the second video (from 0:45 to 1:00), i just slow down (a loooot, like at 10% speed) and repeat the section, but correctly, and like a thousand times. Then i begin to build the speed up (20%) and practise a thousand time more, then build the speed…etc. Till i get to the normal speed i was aiming. When i say a thousand times i think i’m not far from the truth (but don’t do like me, i mean not 1000 repeat session)
For sure if you try to go supersuperfast, it will seem so easy to practise at normal speed, but i don’t think you’ll have made any improvements while playing superfast.
What analogy could i find.. LOL
Not really an analogy but look, Michal Phelps used to train with weights.. so when he did not have weights, it was too easy for him. Look how many gold medals and record he has now.
Our fingers are Michael Phelps. The swimming pool is the fretboard. The weights are the arrangements above our skills. Wait.. it’s an analogy!
ukandoitMemberThe only advice i can give you to improve your playing faster is not from me..
“i’d recommend giving it a shot, because even if you cant play the entire arrangement, you’ll get better in the process” – Andrew
RC101 is like a shop where even if you can’t afford to buy socks, you can try every expensive fur coats and just say bye lool
Well, socks are our respective levels, and furcoats are playing like Andrew and Evan haha.Try what is REALLY hard for you! and then come back to what your comfortable with, and it will seem really easy. I learnt Pinnaple Uke blues just before Bohemian..seems soooo easy now.
ukandoitMemberHello @rjn1952
As Andrew said, if you have a camera in your phone, try it, it could do the job. But i know senior’s phone does not always have one and are not always made to stand straight without being kept in hands, so..
Here is a quick youtube video about cheap cameras reviews:
I hope it can help you
